Do you believe in ghosts???👻

York, England is famously considered the most haunted city in Europe, and they really lean into it by offering tons of ghost tours, spooky themed shops, and plaques displaying all sorts of history/lore. When I was 15, I swear I saw a ghost inside York’s most haunted bar, the Golden Fleece (clip 11)😮‍💨

York also has lots of ties to the Harry Potter movies— which they lean into as well! There’s a street called Shambles which is thought to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley, so it has lots of witchy/wizardly shops + attractions. You can also visit a filming location from movie 1 at York train station!

Ancient & bustling cities have my heart. I’ll never pass up a chance to visit this one ❤️

Casually catching a train from the station they filmed “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” at— where Harry finds out about platform 9¾!

Unfortunately, the bridge that Harry and Hagrid walked across has changed a bit in the last 25 years :,)

BUT if you’re a Harry Potter fan, I highly recommend visiting York. Not only is the train station iconic, but there’s a street called Shambles that’s cited as the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the movies! This city leans hard into the magic, so there are tons of witchy and wizardly attractions to explore 🪄

Had to stop in one of my favorite cities (& ‘the most haunted city in Europe’👻)

Fun fact: my parents actually lived in England for a little while, and moved home just before I was born! Still a little salty about missing out on that dual citizenship haha, but grateful to have some lovely family friends over there that I stayed with🤍

This was my third visit to England and York! I’ve loved it every time… there’s just something about it :,)
