“Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind” solo exhibition at The Broad , Los Angeles

At The Broad, alongside Yoko Ono’s exhibition “Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind,” live performances, participatory events, and billboard artworks are unfolding across the city. In addition to restagings of Cut Piece and Sky Piece to Jesus Christ, seven billboard works featuring messages such as “PEACE is POWER” have been installed throughout Los Angeles. Returning to the same urban landscape nearly 60 years later, these messages reconnect Ono’s vision of peace with the present day.

On view until October 11th

For Simone Bellotti’s sophomore collection at Jil Sander for SS26, the idea of home is something remembered, misremembered and reimagined, expressed through a domestic set in Milan and a prose poem voiced by Kim Gordon.

In the pages of Another Man where Bellotti and Gordon meet in a conversation mediated by Durga Chew-Bose, the same atmosphere carries through: a conversation on memory and the strange usefulness of boredom. They circle questions of authorship, making, while returning again and again to childhood as an anchor.

In 1977, in Minneapolis, a 19-year-old musician named Prince Rogers Nelson caught the attention of music agent Owen Husney and his partner Gary Levinson. Keen to have him photographed, they approached , playing an early demo of Soft and Wet to draw him in. It worked. Whitman was transfixed, and soon after photographed Nelson, who would become the artist known as Prince.

Ten years after his passing, we revisit those images, now collected in Prince Pre Fame, a book that gathers the full series. As Whitman puts it, it’s “a book that every Prince fan should have on their table, telling the story of two guys from Minneapolis following their passions, trying to pursue their dreams.”
