Rain stitched silver lines through the night as the dockyard breathed in slow, metallic sighs. High above the sleeping cargo lanes, she sat on the edge of a container like a quiet sentinel, boots dangling over the drop. Neon bled into the mist, turning the fog electric blue, turning the world into a soft, humming dream.
Her arms glowed faintly beneath the drizzle—machined bones wrapped in patient light. Each pulse was a reminder: she was rebuilt for survival, not comfort. The cranes behind her shifted with tired groans, giants at rest, their cables swaying like pendulums counting down to something only the city understood.
She listened.
Not with ears alone, but with the subtle sensors threaded through carbon fiber and steel. Distant engines. A flicker in the grid. Footsteps that never came. The rain softened everything, even memories—the ones she tried not to replay.
Once, she had been ordinary. Warm hands. Easy laughter. A name spoken by someone who waited at windows. Now she was a silhouette against floodlights, a guardian of thresholds where shadows tried to slip through.
A faint signal blinked across her vision. There it was. Purpose.
She rose without drama, calm as gravity. The glow in her veins steadied, matching the rhythm of the storm. Somewhere below, the city pretended to sleep.
She didn’t.
And as thunder rolled across steel and sky, she stepped forward into the blue-lit rain—silent, precise, and unstoppable.
Spl. Thanks
