A team of desert trekkers in the central Sahara has found several migrants dead beside their abandoned gear. The victims had set out for Europe across the desert but collapsed from dehydration and exhaustion before reaching help. Passports scattered near the bodies show they were citizens of the Republic of Niger. Their deaths are another harsh reminder of how desperation, limited legal migration routes, and smuggling networks continue to turn the Sahara into a graveyard.
For how long will Africans die like this running away from the most beautiful, most blessed with resources and good weather place on earth to go to the hostile west or east simply because of lacking good governance and ideas to create sources of income and good governance on the continent?
