Adansi youth returns helicopter parts for their reward following Ashanti Regional Minister's plea

Significant parts of the August 6 military helicopter c,rash have been recovered, thanks to the community youth, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has confirmed.

“Thanks to the community youth. Significant parts of the craft and other belongings have been returned. Still expecting more by close of day,” he said on Facebook.

The ARCC is urging anyone still holding any parts — no matter how small — to return them immediately to local leaders or investigators. A cash reward is being offered for voluntary returns before Monday, August 11.

After that date, anyone keeping items will be treated as a criminal.

The recovered parts are expected to help investigators determine the cause of the crash that claimed eight lives, including top government officials.

Sam George gives DSTV August 7 deadline to cut prices or pack their bags and leave the country

Minister for Communication, Sam George, has warned that DSTV’s broadcasting license will be suspended from August 7, 2025, if the company fails to reduce subscription fees in line with the cedi’s recent appreciation.

Speaking during the Government Accountability Series, he said DSTV prices remain high despite a 30% cedi gain in the last five months.

“Ghanaians are demanding fairness,” he said, adding that most subscribers find DSTV content outdated except for Premier League football.

He urged Multichoice to drop prices permanently—not offer temporary promos.

Kwaku Oteng visits Daddy Lumba’s home—Ignores young man who begged him money to pay his rent

Business mogul Dr. Kwaku Oteng paid a visit to the family of the late music legend Daddy Lumba on Thursday, July 31, to sympathize with them after the icon’s passing.

But what started as a solemn moment stirred conversation online when a young man approached the Angel Group founder with a desperate plea. In a dramatic scene, the man knelt before Kwaku Oteng and begged for help to pay his rent.

Kwaku Oteng, however, did not respond. He simply listened briefly, then turned and walked away, leaving the young man in silence.

Despite the awkward moment, Kwaku Oteng joins a long list of dignitaries who have visited Lumba’s residence to console the grieving family.

Afenyo-Markin accuses NDC of rebranding and claiming credit for NPP projects

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Mahama-led administration of rebranding and claiming credit for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) achievements.

Addressing delegates at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium, Mr Afenyo-Markin defended the legacy of former president Akufo-Addo's administration and dismissed claims of failure following the party’s 2024 electoral loss.

“Yes, we lost the 2024 elections in a big way,” he admitted. “But let us be clear, this was not a defeat born out of failure. It was a perfect storm of adversity no government in the Fourth Republic has ever had.”

He cited several challenges faced during the NPP's tenure, including the banking sector crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine war.

“No government in our democratic history faced this scale of compounded crisis,” he said. “Yet in the driving seat, we held the line.”

He praised the resilience of Ghanaians and highlighted economic progress made under the NPP.

“We should commend them because it was the sacrifices they, including the bondholders, made that led to the big economic recovery we started witnessing from early 2024,” he said.

“We fixed a crisis and handed over an economy with stronger GDP growth than what we inherited in 2017. We built historic levels of gold and foreign exchange reserves, reserves the current administration is now relying on to prop up the cedi and support the economy,” he added.

Self-acclaimed Ashanti Regional Chairman of Delta Force arrested

A man claiming to be the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Delta Force, a vigilante group, Francis Asante, has been arrested and is currently in custody.

GBCNEWS’ deep-throat sources within the national security apparatus disclosed that Asante was arrested at a hideout at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North district of Ashanti in the evening of Friday, July 18, 2025.

According to the source, the self-acclaimed Regional Delta Force Chairman, with the street name Swanzy and also known as Nana Kwasi among close associates, has been arrested in connection with an alleged threat he made in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

In the viral video in reference, Swanzy threatened that he and his subordinate members of the Delta Force would strike during the upcoming Akwatia Parliamentary By-election, making a firm threat that at least one prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, would be killed during the elections.

The heavily built man said the decision is a revenge on the NPP for allegedly abandoning members of the vigilante group after being used by the party to win the 2016 Presidential polls.

The source said the arrest of Swanzy, seen in military camouflage in the video, is a proactive measure to ensure life and property are protected before, during and after the polls.

At the time of filing this report, at around 10 pm, arrangements were being made to transport him to Accra to process him for court.
