I see it happening toray, Everything George Orwell warned us about coming from the Democratic Party. They will not allow a woman to be called a woman anymore, and killing is now "un-alived" and much other revolting Newspeak.
In 1984, George Orwell illustrates how controlling language alters thought, with the central quote regarding this being: "Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it". [1]
Key Quotes on Changing Language in 1984
• "It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words." – Syme explaining the goal of Newspeak to reduce vocabulary.
• "The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking — not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.".
• "If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought." (Often cited in relation to 1984’s themes, appearing in his essay Politics and the English Language). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Purpose of Linguistic Change in 1984
• Eliminating Thoughtcrime: By removing words, the ability to conceptualize rebellion is destroyed.
• Simplicity and Control: The goal is to make communication, particularly regarding political or abstract concepts, impossible, reducing language to simple, direct words.
• Controlling Reality: Through Newspeak, the Party controls the "reality inside the skull," making it impossible to express or hold dissenting opinions. [1, 4, 6, 7, 8]
The ultimate goal of altering language, or NewSpeak, is to make heresy or subversive thought impossible. [7]
