🌌 Si è tenuto ieri il primo appuntamento di "𝗗𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗼"!

Francesco Longo (UniTS/INFN) ci ha accompagnato ai confini dell’Universo, alla scoperta dei lampi di raggi gamma: esplosioni improvvise che raggiungono energie sorprendenti e ci permettono di osservare alcune delle prime pagine della storia cosmica, come la nascita di buchi neri.

Una serie di incontri di divulgazione scientifica dedicati ai temi di ricerca dell’ (Institute for Fundamental Physics of the Universe).

European projects are one of the areas where SISSA Medialab puts its expertise in science communication into practice.

Currently, we are working on:

Our colleague Laura Busato is in Athens these days for the 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, bringing a perspective to the conversation!

The meeting gathers researchers working on atmospheric lidar, a technology with applications in a variety of areas, such as climate and air-quality research.

Science communication has an important role to play in this context, and today Laura explored this in a keynote entitled “𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒: ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑎 𝑠𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒”. Later, she facilitated a discussion game to help identify the project’s priority communication goals.

🌅 Day 2 begins with science at the centre

This morning at the EARLICOST Annual Meeting in Athens, the programme opens with four plenary talks representing the Action’s Working Groups, followed by a dedicated session featuring EARLICOST grantees and their three-minute flash talks.

A morning focused on new research, shared expertise and the experiences made possible through EARLICOST support.

🎓 Thank you to all participants in 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟲 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀! We now look ahead to the upcoming academic year.

In the 2025-26 academic year we organised 11 masterclasses, for a total of 30 training days and nearly 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀.

The courses covered a wide range of topics: from scientific writing and peer-to-peer communication to public speaking, event organisation, public engagement and more.

We are now getting ready for the next ones, starting this September!

🤝 𝗦𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗔 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗠 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 is a joint programme by SISSA and SISSA Medialab. It provides training courses in science communication for researchers, journalists and science communicators, led by high-profile experts. The courses are organised on demand for universities, research centres, companies and public institutions, tailored to the specific needs of participants, and can be held either in Italian or in English.

🧠 “Se lo vedo (non) ci credo”: un incontro interattivo alla scoperta delle neuroscienze cognitive
🎨 “Pittori artificiali”: un seminario che esplora i meccanismi nascosti dietro le intelligenze artificiali per il riconoscimento di immagini

I posti riservati alle classi sono già esauriti, ma lo stand della SISSA - Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati, insieme agli altri stand del festival, sarà visitabile per tutta la durata dell’evento.
