Spring Summer #25 ISSUE cover story “Desierto de los Leones” 🖤🖤🖤
The Desierto de los Leones National Park is a protected natural area located on the outskirts of Mexico City. This park, which covers about 1,500 hectares, offers a green and serene refuge away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Its name derives from the former convent of the Discalced Carmelites, who called the place “desert” for its isolation and tranquillity, while “lions” refers to the surname of one of the convent's benefactors.
The park is home to a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and the former convent, now a museum, offers visitors a glimpse into Mexico's colonial past with its historic architecture and manicured gardens. The Desierto de los Leones is an oasis of peace and a reminder that our existence was once in perfect harmony with nature. We have celebrated this with a colourful story and volume, like the beautiful animals that the park is home to.
