On this day in 1965, Christopher Joseph Ward, better known as Cj Ramone, was born in Queens, New York City. He was the final bassist for Ramones, taking over for Dee Dee in 1989 (playing his first show on September 30 of that year) and remaining with the band until their breakup in 1996.

Released 34 years ago on this day in October 1991 ... one month earlier, an album called 'Nevermind' by Nirvana appeared with the masses exclaiming the virtues of BUT - 6 years prior in 1985, a young band in the small county of Buckinghamshire, Sth East England created & presented a stunning racket of cacophonous proportions predating all that & Sub Pop Records could ever have imagined. Signed to Beggars Group subsidiary Situation Two, it was their third album 'Soul, Glitter & Sin' (released around the same time as Nirvana's SLTS single), that Thee Hypnotics unveiled their finest psychedelic postpunk rock reminiscing the styles of The Scientists & Kim Salmon, Scratch Acid through to the The Birthday Party . This album remains HIGHLY recommended listening.

We need to talk about .... Released 46 years ago on this day October in 1980, one of the most important debut albums by one of the most influential bands in PostPunk history - the self titled album by Killing Joke: Official critically lauded as "an underground classic" influencing artists including Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Metallica & many more like you & us. And then there was the statement that was the album cover artwork adapted from a Don McCullin photo - decades later inspiring a wave of street artists.

On this day 45 years ago, neubauten.orgr debut full-length album 'Kollaps' through ZickZack (5 October 1981)!

The songs are a mixture of rough punk tunes and industrial noises. The industrial noises were obtained from self-made music machines, electronics, and found objects such as metal plates.

Released 49 years ago on this day in October 1977 ... the debut album 'Young Loud and Snotty' by Cleveland's punk pioneers, Dead Boys™ featuring the late Stiv Bators (also in Lords of the New Church and once close pal of Sid Vicious). Interesting to note that the lead track 'Sonic Reducer' was co-written by David Thomas aka Pere Ubu (Official) & DB member Cheetah Chrome, originally for their short live band, Rocket from the Tombs.
