He will be signing copies of his new book between 11.00am and 1.00pm.
An ideal Christmas present.
Foreword
This unheard story of Peter Le Brocq gives us insight into the extraordinary courage, resilience, and sacrifice, that was all to protect the freedoms we cherish today. The story would otherwise have been lost to history, if it were not for Philip Le Brocq meticulously researching and piecing together the life of a young man (his uncle!) who embodied the esprit de corps of a true hero.
Through this book, we are offered a poignant and vivid glimpse into the life of a Jersey schoolboy who dared to dream big, ultimately joining the Royal Air Force at the tender age of 15 and fighting for his country as a pilot during World War II. Peter’s journey is a testament to the power of determination and the human spirit in the face of unimaginable challenges.
This book is not merely about Peter, but also about the family that shaped him. The Le Brocq family story reveals a tapestry of love, loyalty, and strength, providing context to Peter’s motivations and grounding his heroism in community and heritage. We come to understand the complexities of war – not just in the skies but in the hearts of those left behind.Peter’s legacy might have faded into obscurity had it not been for Philip’s relentless quest to uncover the truth behind his uncle’s life. His dedication, spanning decades, is a powerful reminder of the importance of family, memory, and the untold stories of the past.
It serves as a call to honour the unsung heroes of history – those who gave everything, often without recognition, and importantly, without seeking or needing recognition.Through No Time, Philip has brought this unheard story to the world. I am particularly grateful, as this story gives me insight into the wartime operations of my grandfather, Phil Brett, who also flew with 144 Sqn. History does not live on if it is not for the dedication of people like Philip. Not only has he brought this story to life, but he has done the story justice, and I know for sure, Peter would have been proud.
