Had a crazy day, today

A deep feeling of dread came over me while driving on the highway all day. Later in the day, I avoided what could have been a fatal accident. This channel is ...

So, I called my salesperson at the dealership and he said he just received an email...

Hahaha He just called me back as I was typing this. Too funny.

Anyway, there are two things, three actually, that are holding up my van at the factory. The first is cruise control. Interestingly, the adaptive cruise control they can put in instead is actually better technology, but also more expensive, so we are making the switch.

The second item is the rear facing camera, which would allow me to see what is behind me while driving down the road. We will drop that, because I can always buy one on Amazon and have a shop or a friend install it later. Not a big deal.

The final thing we are just going to leave for the moment and see what happens, because it is too much about safety to have it left off and that is a warning system for another vehicle moving into my blind spot! Hopefully this won't slow things up too much. We shall see.

Really hoping to receive delivery before February 3rd, as that is the date I am scheduled to have the van in the shop to have it converted into a camper van.

Been noticing a trend lately in van life. I follow quite a few other van lifers on YouTube and some I just come across their videos from time to time but don't actually follow.

Lately, there has been a noticable amount of van lifers that are either complaining about how difficult van life is (and it can be at times, such is life) and others that are outright quitting van life altogether, because it is too hard for them.

My observation on this and is totally my opinion on the matter is that there are people who see the glamorous side to living in a van and jump in without any consideration on whether it is actually a life for them. Then reality hits and it is just too hard.

My suggestion for those who are considering the van life is to do your research and also to watch the van life video content that actually shows you what the reality is in living in a van, bus, car, etc.

Before I made the decision to do van life, I took a good six months of research looking into the lifestyle. I watched videos of people who showed their mistakes and what worked and didn't work for them. Even so, I still got some things wrong, and made my own share of mistakes along the way, like getting too small a van to begin with. I didn't realize what problems that would cause my health.

But when all is said and done, I have no regrets and now I am rectifying those mistakes the second time around and still going back out on the road.

In the end, I definitely believe that this lifestyle isn't for everyone and if you really want to see if it is right for you, I would suggest renting a camper van and take a week or two vacation in one and see if it could be something you could do full time. Be honest with yourself. I think it takes a certain type of personality and character to be able to live the life of traveling in a vehicle and living full time on the road. It definitely has its ups and downs, but for me, the positives totally outweigh the negatives.

But do go after your dreams, whatever they may be and stay well.

Been trying to teach myself how to better film and edit videos so that they will be better in the future. Just stumbled onto a gadget that will be a major game changer for someone who is a solo videographer. It is an auto motion detector that attaches to your camera and tripod. It will track me or my vehicle in a shot. Also, when I start making cooking videos in my van, it will be able to follow my prep work and not end up out of frame.

Like I said, it will be a real game changer. Can't wait to get it and test it out. I know I haven't been posting much over on my YouTube channel, just because not being in my van right now, the content would be plain boring.

As I get closer to preparing to move into my van, I will start to make more videos, sharing the process with you guys. If you would like to follow my future adventures over on YouTube, you can find it as Simply Celtic Van Life channel.

Talk to you soon! πŸ’—πŸ™πŸ’—

Since the newest vaccine I received yesterday morning, started kicking my behind late last night, I fell asleep about 10:35pm and slept through the night. That hardly ever happens. Guess my body really did need it. Had a bad headache and felt some flu-like symptoms in my body, but surprisingly, my lungs were fine.

Woke up this morning and I still have a slight headache, but my body is totally wrecked. I mean, the pain all over is really bad, but I will survive. Hoping the worst of it is over. Tomorrow is a total rest day and see how tomorrow goes. Should be all over by then, I would think.

The first three shots were hardly a bump in the road for me, but this one...

Enjoy your day πŸ’—πŸ™πŸ’—

Maybe it is time to start posting over here and just forget about my personal page.

As I am preparing to take delivery of the new van (hopefully before February 3rd, as that is when I am scheduled to have it taken to Vanture Customs to have it built out), I have a long list of things I have to get done.

Today was one of those things on my list to do, my fourth vaccine shot! That was at 10am this morning and other than feeling wiped out and fatigued all day, I haven't gotten sick...yet. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I did well with my first three shots, so I am hoping this one will be smooth sailing.

Some of the other things on my list to do is things like seeing my Podiatrist, Optometrist, and Dentist. Because of Covid these past three years, I have let these three slip. I need to see them before I go back on the road.

Then there is switching everything over to the address I will be using while I am traveling. This is the tricky part as I have to do it in the right order. Need to receive mail at the new address so that I can submit that to the DMV to update my van registration.

Then I am going to also need to apply for that Real ID that we are all going to have to get. And on top of that, I have never gotten a passport, but will be applying for that as well, since I will want to eventually travel to Canada.

This is all besides having to buy more things for the new van setup. People don't realize all that has to go into a full time van living situation. There are so many things that you need just in case something goes wrong. Tools, fire extinguisher, I will need a telescopic ladder to be able to get to the roof (high top), in order to clean the solar panels, set up and take down my Internet, or anything I may have to access up there. Extra storage for water and other supplies. There is just so much you would never think of.

Well, hope I didn't bore you too much. I will try to post regularly over on this page, even though I know I only have a few people that are following this page.

Have a good night. πŸ’—πŸ™πŸ’—
