When those I serve come to me with a problem, my job is to find a solution.”
Today I received a call from someone who thought my agency was providing direct care.
This is a common misunderstanding. Many don’t realize that:
Support Coordination connects individuals and families to DDD-approved providers of their choice in the community. This includes services such as day programs, residential support, or daily living activities.
Direct Support Providers deliver hands-on care in the community or in the home. Some agencies hire outside staff, while others allow families to be hired to provide care for their loved one. At A Second Touch, we only hire the family member — because we believe family involvement builds consistency, trust, and long-term stability.
To receive Direct Support, an individual must first work with a Support Coordination agency — we bridge the gap and connect them to the right provider who can meet their needs.
Because I already knew the difference between Support Coordination and Direct Support, I used AI as a tool to:
1. Break the explanation down into simple, plain language.
2. Format it so it could be easily shared with their client.
3. Provide a quick resource that removed confusion in minutes.
Confusion turned into clarity.
Families understood their role.
And the individual could move forward with the right support.
Support Coordination is about solutions, not confusion.
If you’re a provider, family, or agency leader, let’s connect. I’ll keep showing how AI helps me deliver clarity and transformation — while keeping the human touch at the center.
