Possibly the greatest of underappreciated albums ever, Viscera by Sacha Sacket is a tour de force I long have (pardon the expression) sung the praises of. Today someone I don't know saw my ( Bill Stella ) profile pic, the art for Sacket's song "Double Gemini", and asked me if I know what has become of him.
I. Do. Not.
But soon after I wrote a little note to him via his bandcamp page - sachasacket.bandcamp.com (for those of you who don't know the obvious way that site works). Maybe I'll hear from him.
Whether I do or not THIS MUSIC IS WORTH ... buying, ,... listening to, ... spending time with, ... IT!
It's up to you now. Do the right thing and support this music. You know what you need to do.

This year, the culture yearns for the real and the consistent. Let's make room for another Rainbow Connection. Willie Nelson gets his share of attention these days (a Rolling Stone magazine cover article this year, for instance), and here's another reason the attention is deserved: Willie started singing, and it was so quiet and beautiful I started crying. He's not nearly having as much as the equally well-deserved 2 month long "moment" Dolly Parton is in the midst of, so lets make room. I'm very much Pro appreciating elders while they're alive, not waiting until they die to give tributes. (Speaking of appreciating elders, last night we were in the presence of Renée Taylor, at her delightful and touching autobiographical comedic monologue My Life On A Diet. And Brandi Carlile has just helped with Tanya Tucker's latest album. And the latest Kennedy Center Honors... etc.) It's good, special, we do these things even as we continue to break new artists and support contemporary ones in their primes. Speaking of *that*, Kacey Musgraves' latest album is "Rainbow", so this makes for a perfect duet.

I'm embarrassed beyond explaining that I hadn't heard - nor heard of - Bob Mould 's "Hello Sunshine" from February 2019 until now.
Mould is one of my all-time favorites. I met him briefly back in 1991 at Austin's SXSW after he was Outed. His album "Modulate" is one of my 10 favorites of the '00s. And his solo performances are vicarious confirmations of the music I wanted to play myself, since 1978, after I'd seen The Kinks on tour and had seen Talking Heads 3x and The Ramones once, and was trying to make sense personally of my love of Rock music of the 60s and 70s and also of the Punk sounds that reinvigorated Rock, by playing "You Really Got Me" in as punk a solo, fuzzy-punk electric guitar shouted version as I could muster.

I love this man. I love his music. I'm just a frikkin' fanboy for Bob Mould. OutGayMusic in part exists as a response to the inexplicable denial of the Gay communities / Q-munities to acknowledging the cultural phenomenon and the huge contribution as an Out Gay Man to music made by Mould, and others who don't fit the image of stereotypical "gay music".

For anyone still following this page, I'm posting the latest video and the home page of a new-to-me musician who punches (to borrow from his metaphorical vocabulary) WAY above his weight class. These are heavyweight productions: the song, the song production, the video, the website. Motivation for posting about Freddie Atlas? He seems to have attracted barely a ripple from the world at large and, by "latest" I mean, he has not made a post in 2019 on YouTube or Facebook. (I've yet to see other pages of his.) Bringing attention to under-appreciated and undiscovered artists are my favorite subjects to rave about. As he released his singularly amazing video for his "Something About You" around when I was pulling back from Dancing To Architecture and OutGayMusic, and have only in the last week dug back from 2 months of my playing catch up largely about 2019 to notice releases from Autumn 2018, and it feels like I owe Freddie Atlas what small gesture I can make, here.
