Winston 'Niney the Observer' Holness, OD, is one of the most prolific producers of his era and is globally recognized as one of the pillars of reggae music. Described by his colleague, Clyde McKenzie as “a restless, experimental innovator who has done so much to shape what we call Jamaican music” Niney is called The Observer for an excellent reason.
Niney never takes his eagle eyes off a target and he can keenly watch several targets all at the same time. This skill has served him well throughout the years, and it is still guiding him in 2025, as he shares with the world his highly anticipated album project, "Niney Holness: The Observer".
This landmark album by a producer, who also wears the hat of singer, comes nearly 30 years after his last album and it proves beyond a doubt that creativity has no expiry date. Leader of the Opposition in Jamaica, Mark Golding, says: “When somebody who has done so much, more than four decades ago, is still looking to produce material and have an album launch in 2025, it is remarkable.”
Niney is proud to have worked with a cadre of ‘A’ list musicians, engineers and vocalists on "Niney Holness: The Observer". In tribute to the late musician Dalton Browne, who started on this project, Niney says: “Dalton was playing guitars and doing harmony. He was such a nice guy; a really beautiful soul whose melodies will forever live on.”
