Ever wonder why some days feel heavier than others? It often comes down to the difference between emotions, feelings, and moodsâŚ
three things we mix up all the time.
⨠Emotions are quick, powerful reactions. They show up fast, usually triggered by something specific⌠like anger when someone cuts you off in traffic or joy when you get good news. They donât last long, but they can be intense.
⨠Feelings are what happens when your mind interprets those emotions. They stick around a little longer because theyâre tied to your thoughts, past experiences, and values. For example, anger (emotion) might turn into feeling disrespected (feeling).
⨠Moods are the longer-lasting states. They donât always need a trigger⌠things like stress, sleep, or environment can set them. Thatâs why you can just âwake up in a moodâ without knowing why.
đĄ Why does this matter? Because once you know the difference, you can handle them better. Emotions come and go, feelings can be challenged and reframed, and moods can be shifted with self-care and environment.
Being able to name what youâre experiencing is a huge part of mental wellnessâŚ
it gives you back the power instead of letting your emotions, feelings, or moods run the show.
