April 1980 Zimbabwe ๐ฟ๐ผ
On April 19, 1980, Reggae icon Bob Marley and the Wailers performed in front of 100,000 fans at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe. A day earlier, on April 18th, he sang โZimbabweโ at Zimbabwe's 1st independence festival.
Bob marley to the crowd in 1980: How good and how pleasant it would be before God and man, yeah. To see the unification of all Afrikansโ. Afrika Unite.
Bob Marley also travelled to African countries like Ethiopia ๐ช๐น , Kenya ๐ฐ๐ช and Gabon ๐ฌ๐ฆ
In 2015, a statue of Marley was installed in Addis Ababa for Bobโs 70th birthday celebration. In 2005, Rita Marley, Bob Marleyโs widow announced she would be moving his body to be reburied in Ethiopia, though that never happened; the famous singer still rests in tomb in his home in Nine Mile, Jamaica. Marleyโs music, meanwhile, continues to inspire the world from the Americas to Afrikaโeven if many folks are only listening to the melodies.
