Hello Elite Jamaica family, Recently, I was notified about a concern raised regarding one of my videos, where I included a brief segment from another creator’s video to support my content. After researching, I found the information they shared to be factual and in line with the message I wanted to convey. I believed this would be a valuable way to enhance our educational content, especially given that I added my own extensive research and historical newspaper clippings to substantiate and expand on the topic. My goal has always been to share knowledge and create a space for Jamaican history and heritage to be fully appreciated.
While some of the information I referenced was originally presented by them, everything I used was public domain information—freely accessible and not copyrighted—allowing anyone to incorporate it. Furthermore, I did not use their audio or video content; all audio and visuals in my video were produced by Elite Jamaica. The audio is my own voice, with video editing and images that I personally created and edited.
Over the past ten years, I’ve seen countless creators use clips from my videos, and I’ve never objected or issued a strike, as I value the spread of information above all else. But unfortunately, it seems that not everyone shares this view. I encourage anyone to browse through the nearly one thousand videos on Elite Jamaica and check for plagiarism, defamation, or reused content. You’ll find that our content is original, thoroughly researched, and often only available on this channel. Many of my videos involve fieldwork, visiting historical sites and structures in person, as that’s where this channel’s journey began. After a decade of dedication to this craft, we wouldn’t have reached this milestone if we relied on others’ content.
Out of respect and to avoid further misunderstanding, I have taken down the videos in question, and I will be re-editing them to include more info on these topics. This process will allow me to strengthen and enhance those videos further, which I’m excited to share soon. However, I must address the fact that they have uploaded a video containing about eight minutes of my voice on their channel—four minutes each. While I could easily issue a strike, I’ll view it as promotion and simply ask them to remove it.
I also want to address the defamatory content posted against me on their platform and on X (formerly Twitter), which is misleading and misrepresents the intentions behind my work. I kindly request that these posts be removed, as they may lead to legal ramifications. Thank you all for your unwavering support. I am dedicated to continuing this journey with you, sharing Jamaica’s incredible stories, unfiltered and with integrity. Stay tuned for the re-edited versions, and let’s keep moving forward, growing, and learning together. Thank you for being part of Elite Jamaica.
