It was my first time doing a lifestyle session like this, and I can honestly say I’m hooked. There’s something so powerful about freezing time in the very place where life actually happens.

Looking back, I see what I’d do differently:

3. Show up earlier to plan and prep

First photoshoot in California ✨️🌴
Last time I was here I was too shy for portrait photography, now it's my main thing and I'm kinda in love with it.
By pure coincidence (or perhaps fate?), the stunning and were also in California, ergo, this shoot came to life.
I’m still finding my way in this new chapter of life, but I’m confident I’ll get there. ✨

Hakone ⛩

My #1 tip for exploring this popular area: Be early!

Arriving around 7am allows you to experience the location in a peaceful state, with the cloudy skies adding a beautiful, dramatic touch that makes the greenery appear even more vibrant. By 7:30am, the lines by the famous Torii gate near the water begin to form, so getting there early ensures you can enjoy the scenery without the crowds.

If you're lucky, you may even catch a magical violin concert at the glass museum, adding an unexpected touch of elegance to your visit.

If you're looking for an unforgettable destination next fall, I highly recommend Kegon Falls. Located just a 3-hour drive from NAF Atsugi, this stunning natural wonder is a must-see. The free observation deck offers a magnificent view of the falls from above, but for a more intimate experience, you can purchase a ticket to ride the escalator down to get closer to the cascading water. Whether you’re admiring the falls from a distance or feeling their power up close, Kegon Falls is a perfect fall getaway.

In addition to the breathtaking waterfalls, the area is rich in cultural experiences. There are numerous temples to explore, each offering a glimpse into Japan’s spiritual history, as well as several museums where you can learn about the local heritage and natural beauty. It's a perfect blend of nature, culture, and history.
