MEXT Scholarship at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU)
If you are an international student interested in Graduate Studies at APU in Japan, you may apply for the MEXT University Recommendation Scholarship.
To be considered, applicants must first submit an application to APU. The university will review applications and recommend outstanding candidates to the scholarship organization.
This scholarship, provided by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aims to foster global competitiveness and encourage active international exchange at Japanese universities.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Must be applying from overseas (not already residing in Japan).
2. Must hold citizenship from a MEXT-designated country.
3. Must have been born on or after April 2, 1991.
4. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale from their most recent university.
Scholarship Benefits
* Full admission and tuition fees.
* Monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY (including housing; subject to change).
* Medical insurance coverage.
* Books and instructional materials.
* Round-trip economy-class airfare between the student’s home country and APU
Application & Selection Process
1. Applications are open only for September 2026 enrollment. Submit all required documents by November 12, 2025.
2. APU reviews submitted applications and nominates qualified candidates to MEXT.
3. Candidates selected for recommendation are notified along with their APU admission results.
4. Final scholarship decisions are made by MEXT and are expected by the end of June (subject to change depending on MEXT’s schedule)
