This will be a temporary finale of sorts as I need to focus on health and family while managing the demands of my job... But Episode 55 could be interesting, especially if you are into contemporary salsa...

I feature songs of the past five years which do not seem well-known but are gems for the dance floor. Some recent releases are included, too. The main highlight is the world debut of Yacel Sagarra's new single, which launches on September 5.

WSR has its annual fundraiser marathon on July 19 — a 24-hour event with one-hour shows by its many member DJs in an appeal for donations to support our cause.

Episode 54 focuses on the use of the strings in salsa and Afro-Caribbean music. This includes guitar (acoustic or electric), tres, cuatro, electric bass, double bass, and violin, both in their background and solo roles.

Several prominent musicians, classic and contemporary, are highlighted. A range of exciting examples are covered, with the aim of offering listeners new appreciation and awareness of several exemplary songs and musicians.
