Spring Break + Easter vibes! The kids kept me very busy during the break but it was so fun and loved them being home with me! Didn’t get to do a whole lot since was traveling both weekends but we made the best of it. Can’t wait for the next break!

📍 Pokémon Cafe Tokyo Nihombashi 🇯🇵

Finally got around to posting our visit to the Pokémon Cafe in Tokyo! We didn’t get to go on our first trip because I didn’t know about it, so I’m glad we got to experience it this time around.

Just know, you’re not really here for the food (it’s kinda mid 😅), but seeing Pikachu come out, seeing the kids getting all excited made it 100% worth it. That’s what it’s really about. Of course, the kids had to grab a bunch of merch before we left! So kawaii!

One thing I wish they did was allow photos with Pikachu! He only comes out for a short show but overall, it’s still such a fun experience for fans of all ages.

If you’re traveling to Tokyo with kids, definitely try to book it in advance — it fills up fast! 02.19.2026

📍Ghibli Museum Mitaka (Tokyo) 🇯🇵

Not to be mistaken for Ghibli Park in Nagoya — the Ghibli Museum is located in Tokyo and is much smaller and no photography allowed inside 📵. But a must-visit for any Studio Ghibli fan!

The museum is an immersive space dedicated to the magical world of Studio Ghibli. My kids loved playing in the Cat Bus play area from My Neighbor Totoro (my personal favorite) and outside on the rooftop garden you’ll spot the life-size Robot Soldier from Castle in the Sky standing guard.

If you’re planning to visit, make sure to buy tickets well in advance because they sell out quickly and cannot be purchased at the museum. 02.19.2026

🚅 Nagoya to Tokyo 🇯🇵

First time taking the 🚄 Shinkansen in Japan, the kids loved it so gotta timestamp it! We got to see Mount Fuji 🗻(I highly recommend getting reserved seats—we got for the whole family (kids are free 6 and under but they need to sit on your lap, no thanks). It was so fast, efficient and clean! Will def travel around Japan on it next time but make sure you ship your 🧳 first. 02.17.2026

📍SUPER SATURDAY, Chinatown NYC 🇺🇸

Closed out Chinese New Year the right way with the fam and friends—high energy, traditional and it was packed AF. Over 20+ lion dance groups moving through the streets, stopping at shops to bring good fortune for the new year. Loud drums, nonstop firecrackers, and that chaotic, vibrant energy that makes it feel so alive. The kids love it every year!

It’s always held on the second Saturday after Chinese New Year and is considered the “closing” celebration — and damn, I think I lost my hearing last night 😂 The firecrackers were really fire-cracking last night 🧨🔥💨

Baby Ocean got a little scared (understandably lol), but don’t worry — he was fully covered and protected. No kids were harmed! 😩

Year of the Horse, let’s go 🐎🧧

📍Osu Shopping Center, Nagoya 🇯🇵

The kids are obsessed with Don Quijote and Gashapon ガシャポン 😂 so am I haha, we can’t get enough! Lots of random junk but if it makes you happy they that’s what matters right? The yakiniku in Japan is so good and cheap, can eat that everyday!

WINTER WONDERLAND ❄️

We came back from Japan and another BLIZZARD hit NYC! The kids love playing in the snow and always want to stay out forever. We also saw a lot of people building ⛄️— and some were very interesting, to say the least 😂

📍Nagoya Castle 🇯🇵

Had to do a little tourist sightseeing with the fam and visit Nagoya Castle, originally built by the Tokugawa shogunate in 1612. Walking through the grounds really makes you appreciate the history and craftsmanship. It was actually Japan’s first castle to be designated a National Treasure, and the reconstructed palace is now considered a modern National Treasure as well.

The main castle tower is currently under renovation (closed since 2018), so you can’t go inside right now and not sure when it’ll reopen. But if you have some free time while visiting Nagoya, the grounds and palace are still worth the visit.

A little culture, a little history, and lots of family memories. 02.16.2026

Roaming the streets of Nagoya 🇯🇵

When we travel to Japan, we don’t usually book restaurants or plan to eat at specific spots, it’s pretty impossible with my kids. A lot of places are small, sometimes down in basement levels with no elevator, picky eaters and there can be a language barrier too. So we just go with the flow and eat wherever we happen to be that day. It actually works out pretty well for us.

If you guys have any tips for eating out with kids in Japan, let me know 🙏🏼 We love 🇯🇵

📍Ghibli Park, Nagoya 🇯🇵 with the fam bam!

While doing a quick “what to do with kids” search in Nagoya, Ghibli Park popped up — and I was beyond excited! There’s so much walking and long waits for exhibits and photo spots (the norm in Asia haha), so there’s no way you can do it all in one day — but we hit some of the best spots and captured some really good 📸 along the way.

Pro tip: If you’re traveling with young kids like me, best to book breakfast with the hotel! Saves a lot of time and energy trying to find food in the morning! My kids love it.
