Have you ever seen a demon dance?

Japanese people believe that there are "good demons". They are known to be gods' messengers.

During a Shinto purification ritual called Tsuinashiki, the good demons ward-off misfortunes by dancing to the sound of horns and drums and waving torches made of straw.

Tsuinashiki is performed in Nagata Shrine since the 14th Century. It is celebrated along with the Setsubun (seasonal division) Festival, or the day before spring according to the Japanese lunar calendar.
