イギリスでは、ハロゲンも白熱灯もすでに買えなくなってきている今、それに替わるLED電球の選び方指南を紹介している。
一般家庭向けに、選ぶポイントとして光束(ルーメン)、色温度(ケルビン)、そして演色評価指数(CRI)に視点を起き、細かく説明
している。かなり上級レベルではないかと思うけれど、CRI90以上をという勧め方で、一般家庭に伝わるのか ?という考えは、日本だからの視点なのかもしれない。

"How to choose the right light bulbs for your home"

The article introduces pointers on how to choose LED bulbs to replace halogen and incandescent bulbs in the UK, as both are already becoming unavailable.
It provides detailed information for the average home user, focusing on lumens, colour temperature (Kelvin) and colour rendering index (CRI) as the key factors to choose from.
The report explains in detail the key points for selecting a light source. The recommendation of a CRI of 90 or higher, which is considered to be at a fairly advanced level, may not be communicated to ordinary households. This may be a Japanese perspective.

サウジアラビア リアドで開催されたアートフェスティバル

2022年11月から2023年2月まで中東サウジアラビアの首都リアドで開催されたアートフェスティバルNoor Riyadh は、「光」をメインキーワードにした120ものインスタレーション。
石油依存脱却も視野に文化対策を急ぐ国策の一部としても捉えられているが、なぜ「光」がキーワードかというと、この国の気候にも理由がある。冬でも日中は30度以上にもなる環境では、ほぼ日没近い時間から経済活動が始まることもあり、人工光に関しては常に身近なのだ。日本からは、チームラボや藤本翔平なども参加していて、テクノロジーを駆使した作品も多かったようだ。

Art festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia...
The art festival Noor Riyadh, held from November 2022 to February 2023 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, consisted of 120 installations with 'light' as the main keyword.
The festival is seen as part of a national policy to hasten cultural measures, with a view to overcoming dependence on oil, but the reason why 'light' is the keyword is also due to the country's climate. ノルウェーのデザイナー、ダニエル・リバッケンによるストックホルムでのライトインスタレーション。
ノーベル賞の受賞者を称える12月に多くのインスタレーションが行われた中での光作品「シェルターパビリオン」
これは、UNHCR 国連の弁務官 Fridtjof Nansen へのオマージュだという。特に難民問題へ尽力していたという彼のモットーは「難民たちの屋根になってやること」
リバッケンは、冷たい水面と光のコントラストを強調し、暗闇の中に一筋の光を表現したようだ。
人々が求める光には様々なメッセージが込められることがあるが、日照時間や光に対する思いが大きく存在する北欧で、この作品は特に人々の関心を集めることになったと予想する。

The light work "Shelter Pavilion" was among the many installations in December honouring the Nobel Prize winners.
It was a tribute to Fridtjof Nansen, the UNHCR UN Commissioner. He was particularly committed to refugee issues, and his motto was "to be a roof over the refugees' heads."
Ribacken seems to have emphasised the contrast between the cold surface of the water and the light, expressing a ray of light in the darkness.
The light that people seek can carry various messages, but we expect that this work was of particular interest to people in Scandinavia, where there is a large presence of daylight hours and feelings about light.

Daniel Rybakken has created Shelter, an installation formed of a roof structure set over the cold waters surrounding Stockholm.

ロンドンの友人から、光の演出で冬の暗さを乗り切ろうとしているSouth Bank Centre のライトアップの様子が届きました。
Centreの中から、周囲の施設の光が灯っている様子を見る方が趣きがあるそう。
街のクリスマスイルミネーションは全世界共通の賑やかさがありますが、
「あまりお金をかけないで不動産の雰囲気を上げる」という考え方にシフトしているとも。
冬の暗いイギリスならではの傾向かもしれないと、現地在住のデザイナーでもある友人の感想です。
光の趣は寧ろ、やり過ぎず、仄かに灯るくらいが人の心に優しく届くのではないでしょうか。
