Breaking: The third edition of ART SG, Singapore's premier art fair, has announced a roster of 106 participating galleries for its 2025 show, marking a continued decline from its inaugural event. While the figure remains relatively stable compared to this year's 114 galleries, it represents a dramatic 35% decrease from the fair's 2023 launch, which attracted 164 galleries.
In what appears to be strategic timing, Art Basel Hong Kong swiftly followed with its own announcement, confirming 242 participating galleries for its upcoming edition. This number holds remarkably steady against its previous showing of 243 galleries.
The stark contrast in participation numbers—with ART SG's roster now 56% smaller than its Hong Kong competitor.
It's very interesting to see how ART SG will navigate these challenges, particularly as it faces declining participation for the second consecutive year in the highly competitive Asian art market.
