.marufukuro is easily one of my favourite hotels, and one that you should seriously consider when you visit Japan.

We absolutely loved our stay here, from the incredible history and links to Nintendo, to the beautiful location which was perfect for exploring. This is without mentioning how lovely our room was, or the delicious food.

Here are 10 reasons why you should stay here during your time in Kyoto. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

2025 Travel wrapped 🌍

This year has been one of my favourites for travel. Along the way, we’ve had some truly special experiences, met wonderful people, and been lucky enough to spot incredible wildlife in places we’ll never forget.

A few highlights I keep coming back to:

– Taking the Kandy to Ella train through Sri Lanka’s hill country
– Watching the northern lights dance across the sky in Iceland
– Seeing Mount Fuji for the first time, perfectly dusted with the season’s first snow fall
– A first safari, and a baby elephant I still think about
– Wandering through Kyoto’s shrines and bamboo groves
– Catching the first signs of autumn in Hakone, followed by a long onsen soak
– Drinking tea at in Nuwara Eliya as the clouds rolled in
– Seeing the icy Gullfoss at dawn
– Riding the Shinkansen across Japan for the very first time
– Summer in Italy, split between art-filled afternoons and very good pizza

Feeling incredibly grateful for the places we’ve been this year - and excited to see where 2026 takes us next.

Coffee culture is everywhere in Japan. We had some great coffees out here, but my favourite was from Black Cat Coffee in Kyoto.

Was it more expensive than others? Possibly. Did it take a long time to make? Yes. Could I see that the barista was perfecting every part of the process? Absolutely.

If you want some of the best coffee in Japan, then check these guys out in Kyoto. It was worth every penny.

Welcome to Kyoto 🇯🇵

If you do just one thing here, climb up to Kiyomizu-dera at golden hour. After exploring Kyoto on our first day, we trekked up through the busy streets of Gion to this incredible shrine.

The autumnal colours, scenery and atmosphere was a solid 10/10. It was everything I wanted from Kyoto and more.

Let me tell you about our recent stay at the Cotswolds’ cosiest hotel..

near Chipping Camden is the place to go when you want to switch off from the outside world and unwind.

It is set in the heart of the Cotswolds and staying here demands one thing… That you do nothing. Seriously, there’s even a book about how to do so in every room!

Relaxing at Hyll couldn’t be easier. We arrived during awful weather and couldn’t leave the building without getting soaked! Luckily, the entire building is designed for you to kick back and relax. During our stay we chilled in the lounges by the fire, and even enjoyed a game of ‘Skyjo’ together.

My favourite part though was the food. For no extra charge (which is a first for me) you can have an incredible breakfast in bed! After a long few weeks of hard work, doing nothing at Hyll Hotel was just what I needed.

Give it a go and discover the magic of doing nothing.

Let me introduce you the most creative stay in the Tokyo - this is 🎨

Staying at Park Hotel means waking up in a room that’s also a piece of art - literally.

A design-led stay with big views, thoughtful details, and the feeling that Tokyo’s creativity is woven into every corner.
