The Last Unsent Message
She loved him in silence 、the careful kind, the kind that doesn’t disturb what it cannot have. She learned his moods, his favorite songs, the way he paused before saying something honest.
He called her his “safe place.”
She called him nothing because love like hers had no safe name.
Every night she wrote messages she never sent. Confessions folded into drafts. Brave words that only existed on a glowing screen before being erased.
One evening he told her he was moving away — new city, new life, new love waiting there. He sounded excited. She sounded supportive. They were both good at pretending.
“Promise we’ll stay close,” he said.
She smiled through the phone. “Always.”
After the call, she opened their chat one last time and typed:
I loved you more than you ever knew.
She didn’t send it.
Years later, they met by accident 、strangers with shared memories. He hugged her warmly and said, “You were such an important part of my life.”
She nodded and answered softly,
“You were my favorite chapter.”
He never knew he was the whole book.❤️🩹
