Wednesday we said a final goodbye to Gilles. The ceremony was just like him: elegant, surprising, and very classy, as if he had given his loved ones very specific instructions. We almost expected him to appear in tuxedo to sing us one last melody. Greeted by a chilling "Child in Time," (the Original from « In Rock » ) the ceremony was interspersed with some of his melodies alongside others by Fred Aster, David Bowie, (Starman) and Al Stewart(Year of the Cat) His coffin was transformed into a catafalque inhabited by hundreds of his Hello Kitty dolls and Candles. And as a final gig the audience received a sample of his new CD . So long Gilles , from Simon
Gilles Snowcat left the stage without warning. As memories fade to sepia, thoughts wander, revisiting the times our paths crossed. Words abound to describe those moments: warm, witty, sensitive, inspired and inspiring, fraternal. So long, Gilles Snowcat, all our future music is dedicated to you.
