夢山の100作目として、 による『Sound for Photo Exhibitions』をリリースできることを大変光栄に思います。
本作には、AOKI takamasaが自身の写真展のために制作した2つのトラックを収録。ギャラリーでループ再生されることを想定して作られており、鑑賞体験に音の奥行きをもたらすと同時に、AOKIの独自の美学が映像と音の境界を超えて広がっていく様子を感じることができます。さらに、デジタル版のボーナスとして、2008年に発表された「Solid Fusion」のedit版も特別収録しました。これら3つの楽曲はいずれも音の質感と空間の雰囲気を重視し、各パートが雲が風のない空で静かに形を変えていくように、ゆっくりと有機的に変化していきます。
夢山はAOKI takamasaの音楽を長年愛聴してきました。彼と実際に出会うずっと前からファンであり、ここ数年でご縁をいただき、親しく交流させていただく機会にも恵まれました。 がAOKIの直近の写真展のオープニングパーティーで2度DJを務めたほか、 はAOKI、 と共に定期的のアンビエント・パーティー「SLOWMOTION」を共催。そうした経緯もあり、今回の100作目は私たちにとって特別な意味を持つリリースとなっています。

For Muzan’s 100th release, we are incredibly honored to present Sound for Photo Exhibitions, by the legendary AOKI takamasa.
AOKI presents two longform tracks originally created for his photo exhibitions over the years, designed to be played on loops at the gallery, adding a sonic depth to the viewing experience, as well as highlighting AOKI’s unique approach to artistic creation across mediums. As a digital bonus, we have also included a re-edit of his 2008 track “Solid Fusion”. All three pieces focus on texture and atmosphere, each “part” evolving slowly and organically into the next like clouds changing shape in a windless sky.
Muzan have been fans of AOKI’s work for many years – certainly long before ever meeting him – and over the past several years we have had the immense pleasure of getting to know him and work closely with him (Derive invited to DJ at two of AOKI’s last exhibiton openings; and Endurance co-organizing the longform ambient party, SLOWMOTION, with AOKI and Loe) making our 100th release even more special to us.
Cassette tapes are all sold out (for now), however the digital edition can be listened to and purchased on our Bandcamp.

MEDS100 AOKI takamasa - Sound for Photo Exhibitions

We’re honored that Osaka’s legendary Producer and DJ AOKI takamasa entrusts us with his first ever tape release. He’s been involved in the international electronic scene for more than two decades - sculpturing sounds for Alva Noto’s Raster-Noton, remixing Ryuichi Sakamoto and bringing the grooves to the dance floors worldwide.

EVERYTHING IS SPINNING - from the celestial bodies in our solar system to the smallest parts of our existence

These three compostions are being played continuously at AOKI takamasa’s new photo exhibition “Photography”. Music like a scent that floats through the air, creating a space of comfort .

MEDS097 - MEDS099は、私たちにとって特別なリリースです。100作目目前の最後の3タイトルであることもそうですが、それ以上に、これまでで最も個人的な思い入れのある作品だからです。
この3本のテープには、日本の電子音楽シーンで活躍する12組のアーティストの音楽が収められています。彼らは卓越した音楽家であるだけでなく、大切な協力者であり、サポーターであり、そして何よりも、仲間です。私たち（アンドレアスと私）は今回の収録アーティスト全員と個人的につながりを持っていることに、心からの感謝と誇りを感じています。
夢山の活動（リリースにしてもイベントの企画にしても）は、周囲の人々の協力と支えなしには成り立ちません。だからこそ、今回のリリースは私たちにとって特別な意味を持っています。もちろん、世界中のアーティストとのコラボレーションを大切に思う気持ちは変わりません。しかし、夢山は基本的にはローカルなレーベルです。関西を中心に、素晴らしい才能、寛大さ、そして確かなビジョンを持つ人々によって築かれてきました。
そういう意味で、この3本のテープは、これまで私たちを支え、共に歩んできてくれたアーティストや友人たちへのラブレターのようなものです。彼らの存在が、私たちをここまで導いてくれ、そして今もなお、前へ進む力を与えてくれています。夢山は私たちの人生の中でかけがえのないものとなりました。それもすべて、日本のコミュニティの皆さんのおかげです。本当に、ありがとうございます！

This is a very special batch of tapes for us. Not only are these the last three releases before our 100th (!!!); but, more importantly, it is one of our most personal batches ever.
Here you will find music by 12 singular artists from within Japan's electronic music scene. In addition to being wildly talented sonic explorers, they are also colleagues, supporters, and friends. The fact that Andreas and I know each and every artist on this compilation personally makes us feel both grateful and proud.
Muzan's work - whether releasing music or organizing events - is made possible by the help and support of the people around us, which is why this particular batch means so much to us. It goes without saying that we deeply value our collaboration with artists from around the world; however Muzan is, at heart, a local label, founded on the talent, generosity, and vision of the people around us here in Kansai and beyond. And so this batch of tapes is, more than anything, a love letter to the artists and friends who have helped us come this far and who continually inspire us to keep on going! Muzan has become such a special part of our lives and we owe so much of that to our community here in Japan. Thank you all!

今回、参加してくれるメンバーは全員日本を拠点としてるアーティスト。彼らによって生み出された数々の素晴らしい曲はアンビエント、ドローン、エクスペリメンタルなど色々なスタイルにわたって収録されている。参加していただき誠にありがとうございます。

Supporting local Japanese talents or artists that have found their way to Japan has been one of our main goals since we've started Muzan Editions.

These three albums are very dear to our hearts. We present you a glimpse into the vibrant Japanese ambient/experimental scene with some of its best artists.

Each side features two artists and their own unique musical approach - beautiful, 80s Kankyo Ongaku inspired Ambient; spacey, arpeggio-driven synths; La Monte Young’s dreamhouse-like drones and improvised sound experiments.

Ben Kaczor’s entrancing music resonates within the emotional spectrum, exploring the delicate balance between light and shadow with boldness and sensitivity. Navigating through the sonic landscapes of Dial Records and Elysia Basel with elements of stirring elegance, he is renowned for a compelling blend of atmospheric techno, vibrant house and cinematic soundscapes. 大阪出身、在住のDJ。 2000年代初頭よりダンスミュージックに魅了され、レコードを収集し始める。 自身の選び抜かれたコレクションにより組み立てられたサウンドはオーディエンスをゆっくりと快適空間へと連れて行く。

Erik Luebs
アメリカ出身で日本を拠点に活動するミュージシャン兼サウンドデザイナー。遊び心に満ちた自由なアプローチでテクノに取り組んでいる。Bandcampで毎月シングルをリリースしており、米国のThe Bunker New York、オランダのNous’klaer Audioなどのレーベルからのリリース、DJ NobuのFuture Terrorパーティーや欧州にあるDraaimolen Festivalへの出演など国内外で注目されている。

Erik Luebs is a US-born musician and sound designer based in Japan. Eschewing typical genre tropes, Luebs approaches techno with a playfully disruptive technique, reinterpreting the fundamentals using built-from-scratch patches and labyrinthine sequencing. While the labor-intensive process is inspired by a wide range of luminaries such as Mark Fell and Rrose, the resulting music is firmly tied to the dance floor. His unconventional approach to dance music has led to releases on labels such as The Bunker New York, Nous’klaer Audio, performances at DJ Nobu’s Future Terror party in Japan and at Draaimolen Festival in Holland.

With releases on labels such as Spazio Disponibile, Editions Mego, and Ghostly International, we've been fascinated by Aimée's music for a long time, so when she contacted us we jumped at the chance to bring her to Kansai.
For next week's show, she will be performing her piece Tuning the Wind, a deeply immersive sound experience where wind is the primary instrument, magically blurring the lines between natural and synthesized sounds. Listening to this on Daphnia's sound system is going to be unforgettable. We sincerely hope you can join us~~~

In addition to Muzan's Endurance, we've invited Yuri Urano and YAMA, two of the best sonic explorers in Japan, to perform next Sunday as well.
After having just released Yuragi, her second album with Muzan, Urano brings together carefully collected field recordings and masterfully sculpted electronics, continually pushing the boundaries of ambient music.
YAMA, a buyer for Newtone Records, is one of the most brilliant selectors we know. Her depth and breadth of knowledge and love of music - whether techno, house, or ambient - never fails to transport listeners beyond time and space. Please join us for a night of deep sound and experience.

Huge thanks to Collin Smith for featuring Muzan in the Tape Label Report!!

Muzan is honored to host the 10th Anniversary bash for one of our absolutely favorite labels, , run by the inimitable .
Over the past decade, Ario has built Astral Industries into one of the most inspiring and original electronic labels in the world. Their catalog explores the liminal spaces between ambient, techno, and sound art through the work of artists like Rod Modell, Toki Fuko, LF58, and Multicast Dynamics.
