Disney Cruise Line is set to launch a brand-new cruise ship in Japan by 2029, in collaboration with Oriental Land Co. (OLC), the company behind Tokyo Disney Resort. This vessel, inspired by the design of the Disney Wish, will become one of the largest cruise ships in Japan, featuring around 1,250 staterooms and accommodating up to 4,000 passengers.
Highlights:
• Joint Project: The cruise is a partnership between Disney Cruise Line and OLC, marking a major expansion of Disney’s presence in Asia.
• Construction: Built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the ship will be the third in the Triton class, sharing design and features with the Disney Wish.
• Year-Round Homeport: The ship will be permanently based in Tokyo, offering cruises throughout the year.
• Debut: The ship is expected to set sail in 2029.
• Passenger Capacity: Designed to hold approximately 4,000 guests in 1,250 rooms.
• Onboard Experience: Guests can look forward to Disney’s trademark entertainment, dining, and hospitality, with elements specially adapted for Japanese culture and preferences.
• Cruise Options: Initially, the ship will offer shorter voyages departing from the Tokyo area, with the possibility of international routes being added later.
• Pricing: Fares for two- to four-night trips are projected to range from ¥100,000 to ¥300,000 per person.
This marks the first time a Disney cruise ship will operate full-time from Japan, promising a unique blend of Disney magic with a distinctly local flair.
