Japanese food culture is known and loved worldwide, but Kappo and Kaiseki cuisine are traditional Japanese food turned into art. In Kappo cuisine, a chef prepares your favorite dishes right in front of you, where in kaiseki, you get a set meal in a more private setting. Both of these haute cuisines are inspired by nature and changing seasons. Masahiro Kurisu, the master chef of ”Tankuma Kitamise”, tells us more about the meaning and history of Kappo and Kaiseki cuisine.

【日本語は下】Japan food culture is known and loved worldwide, but Kappo and Kaiseki cuisine are traditional Japanese food turned into art. In Kappo cuisine, a chef prepares your favorite dishes right in front of you, where in kaiseki, you get a set meal in a more private setting. Both of these haute cuisines are inspired by nature and changing seasons. How to get there
1. Hankyu Line
Osaka, Umeda → Kawaramachi Station (43min)
Kawaramachi Station → Tankuma Kitamise Honten (3min)

2. Keihan Line
From Kyobashi or Temmabashi (close to the Osaka Castle) → Gion-Shijo Station (approx 45min)
Gion-Shijo Station → Tankuma Kitamise Honten (4min)
