McDonald’s Japan is bracing for another Happy Meal disaster as Sanrio-themed toys hit stores this week.

Scalpers have repeatedly bought up toys meant for kids, flipping them online for huge profits.

The problem grew so bad during Pokémon promotions that McDonald’s apologized and postponed a planned One Piece card release.

To prevent chaos, the chain will ban app and delivery orders, only allow in-person purchases, and cap groups at three Happy Meals.

The new rules apply to Sanrio’s My Melody and Kuromi toys, as well as other limited sets.

But the restrictions will only last one day, raising fears scalpers will still clean out stock.

Fans worry real customers with jobs, school, or families won’t stand a chance against professional resellers.

With sales lasting just four days, many believe McDonald’s Japan is setting up another scalping nightmare.

TOURISTS BANNED IN GUNDAM MUSEUM, JAPAN (for now)

Bandai Spirits has opened a new Gundam museum in Shizuoka, Japan, but for now, only Japanese residents can enter. Foreign tourists are not allowed to visit at this time.

Tickets for the BHCPDII Museum, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at how Gundam model kits are made, went on sale on June 2. However, visitors must first join a lottery by June 30 for a chance to buy tickets.

The full ticketing details reveal restrictions that effectively prevent foreign tourists from applying. This is likely a temporary measure to manage high demand following the museum’s launch.

日本一階段の多い駅は、群馬県にある土合駅です。北行きホームは地下70メートルにあり、486段の階段を下りて行かなければならないため、「日本一のモグラ駅」として知られています。

The train station with the most stairs in Japan is Doai Station in Gunma Prefecture. It is known as "Japan's Number One Mole Station" because the northbound platform is located 70 meters underground and can only be reached by descending 486 steps.

The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest hotel still in operation. Founded in 705 A.D., it has been run by the same family for over 52 generations, offering travelers the healing power of natural hot springs for more than 1,300 years.

Its secret to survival? Tradition and renewal. While the building has been renovated over the centuries, the spirit of Japanese hospitality—omotenashi—remains unchanged. Samurai, shoguns, emperors, and modern-day visitors have all soaked in the same mineral-rich waters, making the hotel a living piece of history where the past flows into the present.

Japan crossed the 10 million visitor mark at the fastest-ever pace this year, reaching that level already in March, official data showed on April 16, as the weak yen propelled an unprecedented tourism boom.

Arrivals of foreign visitors for business and leisure reached 3.5 million last month, bringing the total through the first quarter to 10.54 million, data from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) showed.

Last year, Japan reached 10 million visitors in April.

In the snowy countryside of Hokkaido, Japan, compassion turned into policy. ❄️🚉
When railway officials discovered that Kana Harada was the only passenger using the remote Kami-Shirataki Station, they chose not to close it. Instead, for three years, a train stopped twice a day—once to take her to school, and once to bring her home. 🎓
In March 2016, the station finally closed, the very same month Kana graduated.
Her story became a global symbol of kindness, respect for education, and putting people above profit. 🌍✨
Sometimes, the smallest acts of compassion leave the largest tracks in history.

In Japan, it's surprisingly common for couples—especially in cities—to sleep in separate beds or even bedrooms. Surveys show about 26% to 40% of married couples choose this arrangement, valuing the uninterrupted rest that comes from avoiding disturbances like snoring or differing sleep schedules. This focus on quality sleep is a cultural norm, not a sign of marital trouble—and may even contribute to Japan’s low divorce rate, currently around 1.8 per 1,000 people.
