This year is going just like my dream. After constantly fighting with my demons it seems like I have finally won.

Started on the road to north before sunrise. Then Wakkanai, the ferry, cold wind on the deck, and Rebun coming closer through the sea.

After that it was one long walk along the edge of the island. Cape Sukoton. The road towards Gorota. Small fishing villages. Cliffs dropping into the ocean. A lot of stops that weren’t planned.

The best parts were the roads in between. Open grass. A small shrine out of nowhere. Turning around and seeing how far we’d come.

Rebun is quiet in a way I can’t explain properly. There are people, boats, houses. It just feels far from everything.

Next morning, coastal roads again, one last look, then the ferry pulled away.

Two days went ridiculously fast.
