🌋Hiking Asahidake: the Highest mountain in Hokkaido
Asahidake stands at 2,291 m, the highest peak in Hokkaido, and it’s easier to reach than you think.

🚡 Ropeway start: 1,100 m → 1,600 m
🥾 Trail: 5.3 km round trip • 4–6 hrs • 650 m gain
🌦️ The weather can change quickly, so bring layers, plenty of water, trekking poles, gloves, a bear bell, and sturdy boots.
🍁 Best season: mid-July to early October for wildflowers or autumn colors.

Hokkaido Volcanic Road Trip Guide 🌋🚗
Here’s a one-day loop you can follow:

✨Mount Yotei – Nicknamed Ezo Fuji for its perfect cone. Catch sunrise from Hirafu or Kyogoku Springs, or tackle the full 6–8 hr summer hike.
✨Mount Shiribetsu – A striking volcano just east of Niseko, looking out over the crystal-clear Shiribetsu River.
✨Mount Usu – Still active with steaming vents beside Lake Toya. Ride the Usu Ropeway year-round for crater views and short summit trails.
✨Lake Toya – A vast caldera lake that never freezes thanks to geothermal heat. Stay in Toyako Onsen for lakeside ryokans and nightly fireworks from spring through autumn.
