A WWOOFer from Singapore was energetic. She cooked delicious meals for her WWOOF host in Saga prefecture (h47123). The host family was happy to have her. She is holding goya, which is a bitter vegetable, that contains much vitamin C. In English, it seems it’s called a ‘bitter melon’ or a ‘bitter gourd’.

A WWOOFer from the Netherlands, has just arrived at Tokyo station. His name is Sem. He is going to start WWOOFing at several places in Japan. He said: "My goal is to support local communities, and learn about Japanese culture. As a social-work student, I’m deeply interested in learning how Japanese society deals with social issues.” We say: Good luck Sem! Many WWOOFers have a specific purpose, to do WWOOFing in Japan. It seems like the cat is saying: "Hey, you are a new WWOOFer. I'll take good care of you." This handsome cat is free-spirited, and has escaped from the host's house. This good looking dog knows WWOOFers are like the host’s real family. He is so friendly to WWOOFers, although he barks to strangers & even neighbors. He has got an excellent sixth sense. ☺️ (Host h58341, Iwate prefecture) 初対面にもかかわらず、この秋田犬のワンちゃんはウーファーさんを家族とみなしてこんなに懐いてしまってます。いつもは、近所の人へも吠えるワンちゃんなのだそうです。ホストさんとウーファーさんとが家族のような繋がりを持っていることを、優れた第六感で嗅ぎ取るんですね！（岩手県h58341）

Kitchen knifes are usually kept very sharp in Japan. People often sharpen knifes using this kind of whetstone. And the knifes tend to last for many years. (The knife in the photo, is over 20 years old.) トマトや玉ねぎを切る時、すっーすぅーと切れると気分がいいですよね。が、包丁研ぎは、コツが掴めるまで案外難しい😓　海外では、砥石ではなく、シャープナーをよく利用するようですよ。新鮮な食材は、切れる包丁など良い道具によって、より美味しい料理になります。包丁研ぎ、頑張りましょうね☺️

Paule & Nicola from Canada had wonderful WWOOFing at this farm restaurant host in Oita (h60914) in March. They said,"Helping her with her garden was fun. We knew that the incredible meals she cooked were from the very fresh vegetables in her garden. They were all delicious! It is surrounded by mountains, and the sound of the river was so zen.” カナダからのお二人は、大分県の農家レストランのホストさんh60914で、ＷＷＯＯＦを満喫しました。知識豊富でユーモアに溢れて勉強熱心なウーファーさんたちだったと、ホストさんも大満足でした！

"I immediately felt like I was part of the family.” A young WWOOFer from Germany enjoyed WWOOFing at a host in Nagano. They chopped firewood together. Talked a lot, ate good food and played musical instruments! ☺️「着いた途端、ホストさんは私を家族の一員のように接してくれるのを感じました」とはドイツからのウーファーさんです。長野県のホストさんで、薪割り、おしゃべり、美味しい食事、楽器演奏を楽しみましたよ！

In the late 19th century, this Dutch artist must have had strong inspiration from Japan. It is great to get to know other cultures. 異文化からのアート（浮世絵）に触れ、心を大きく揺さぶられたのでしょうね。異なる文化に接することは、心の栄養になりますよね。
