Music & Event Producer / DJ.
Ever since her first visit to Jamaica in 1990, Selector Hemo has been building a bridge between Japan and the Caribbean by working as a producer, selector and DJ.
One of her work is a famous hit 'ESCAPE Riddim', dropped when she was active as a producer/DJ unit 'Hemo & Moofire'
making them establish a strong presence in Japanese club scene.
After 2000, she became more enthusiastic introducing latest Carribean music, especially soca - she invited Dawg E Slaughter and oranized the very first soca party in Japan which has been a great opportunity to introduce its' music to Japanese people. Ever since then, she has been visiting Trinidad & Tobago every year around carnival season.
Soon she discovers that there's a lot in common between Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival
and Yosakoi Festival, originated in her hometown, Kochi, Japan. It didn't take her long to produce Yosakoi team “Canaval” with dancers and musicians from both Tokyo and Kochi. Through music and fashion, her aim was to form a collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and Kochi Yosakoi.
In 2017, after 10 years of keeping the team, she finally gets to invite Machel Montano to join the Yosakoi Festival, and team Canaval ended that summer with huge success.
In 2011, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, she produced and released the charity album “TRINI LOVE FOR JAPAN/V.A”, along with
DVD to follow in 2012. The charity live show was also held that year featuring Kes, and the entire sales from the CD, DVD and the show was donated towards the fund to support children in Fukushima who lost their parents in the terrible disaster.
In 2013, she launches her own label "LIME Records”, releasing “selector HEMO
presents / ISLAND POP!!!” and various music videos.
With the strong love towards Carribean culture, her interest for rum made her acquire Rum Concierge License, soon forming Rum x Caribbean Music Unit “RUMCO”, who's parties are now popular in Tokyo with Carribean rum and music.
She also performed as a DJ in “JAPAN RUM CONNECTION” organized by R.U.M. JAPAN and have become the regular guest of the big event held every year.
Her energy even lead her to take part in an event such as “TOURISM EXPO JAPAN” http://t-expo.jp , the world's biggest tourism
event, where she shows her great love for Trinidad and Tobago as an exhibitor of the country's booth.
In 2017, she distributed a movie "PAN! OUR MUSIC ODEYSSEY " for the first time in Japan, which was screened across the nation, every where with a good response.
In 2018, she invited Bunji Garlin and Fay Anne Lyons for Tokyo tour, which included their performance in one of the popular local show with more than 15,000 audience. Azafit ft. CHIPPIN SOCA FITNESS was also held during the tour, drawing great attention of Japanese soca fans.

Hemo took role as a backing DJ for all the Trinidadian artists she invited and organized shows for in Japan, and her skill as DJ is also loved in Trinidad and other Carribbean countries, where she regularly receives offers to play in local carnival trucks and events.
Currently still energetically active organizing events and parties, as well as producing local and oversea's artists, Hemo's inquiring mind towards music never stops, and her interest now goes as far as to African music...always exploring new field with challenging mind.
