OSAKA HONORS THE DEDICATED “EXPO LADY”

HALLOWEEN CROWD CONTROL IN SHIBUYA

In Japan, Christmas isn’t a family gathering, it’s more like Valentine’s Day! Couples go on dates, enjoy strawberry shortcake, and line up for KFC buckets . But when it comes to New Year, things flip, it’s a peaceful, family-centered holiday lasting several days. Most people go home, share special meals, and visit temples for hatsumode, the year’s first prayer.

Did you know that in Osaka, a food bank called Kodomo no Ibasho Support Osaka donates around 700 tons of food every year to nearly 300 children’s cafeterias across the prefecture? 💛

These cafeterias give free or low-cost meals to kids who might otherwise go hungry. Founded in 2020, the group partners with 120 companies to rescue food that would’ve gone to waste turning it instead into nourishment and smiles for children. Despite funding struggles, Executive Director Hiromi Yokota continues to fight hunger, dreaming of a day when no child needs a cafeteria to eat a warm meal.

DID YOU KNOW? YOU CAN LEGALLY DRIVE A GO-KART ON TOKYO’S STREETS! 🇯🇵

Yes, street go-karting in Japan is 100% real! You can zip through Tokyo’s busy roads, past taxis, neon lights, and cheering crowds in a mini kart. But it’s not just a free-for-all: you’ll need a valid international driving permit (under the 1949 Geneva Convention), follow all traffic laws, and respect local safety rules.

Once behind the wheel, you can dress up in fun costume. cruise past landmarks like Shibuya Crossing or Tokyo Tower, and feel like a real-life video game character. Just remember, it’s thrilling, legal, and totally unforgettable.
