コロナ禍をきっかけに茅ヶ崎の海の近くに移住した鵜川真由子さん。友人に誘われてビーチクリーンを始めると、漂着物から漂う人間の残り香に惹かれ、部屋の片隅で写真を撮り始める。４×５のリンホフを使ったのは、ゴミと呼ばれるようになったものの佇まいを肖像写真のように残そうと思ったからだ。
　都会で暮らしてきた鵜川さんにとって、海辺から見る空はあまりにも広く、圧倒的だった。海の音を聞くと心が落ち着くのは、羊水の中にいた胎児の頃の記憶と重なるからかもしれない。そんなことを思いながら海辺を散歩し、いつもの場所でいつものようにシャッターを切った。
　
「海と本」と「OFF SESSiON」、となり合う二つの会場で、茅ヶ崎の海辺の情景が交差する展覧会「海辺のカノン」。夏と秋が行き来するこの季節にぜひ足をお運びください！

Toshiki Nakanishi’s “Land of Fusion” (photo book and photo exhibition) won the Sagamihara Photography Rookie of the Year Award

Toshiki Nakanishi (b. 1971 in Osaka) has been photographing in Hokkaido since 1989. In 2012, he moved to the town of Biei in central Hokkaido. In his photography, Nakanishi focuses on the Daisetsuzan mountain range and its foothills, exploring the relationship between nature and the people who live and have lived in Hokkaido. In 2022, he won the Hokkaido Photo Festa Portfolio Review Grand Prix Award for his series on archaeological relics of the Okhotsk culture.

His major exhibitions include “Hikarinoiro” (Canon Gallery, Tokyo, 2012), “Ordinary” (Ricoh Imaging Square, Tokyo, 2016), “Design” (Hiroshige Gallery, Tokyo, 2017), “Signs” (Nine Gallery, Tokyo, 2019), and “Kamuy” (Canon Gallery, Tokyo, 2020). He has published the photobooks “Ordinary” (Fukei Shashin, 2016), “Design” (Canon DreamLabo5000, 2017), “Farmlandscape” (Seiseisha, 2019), “Kamuy” (Genkosha, 2020), and many others.

Toshiki Nakanishi is a member of the Japan Professional Photographers Society, a member and mentor of the Japan Nature Scenery Photograph Association, and a MindShift Gear ambassador.

Takuma Nakahira, one of the most legendary photographers of post-war Japan and a life-long rival of Daido Moriyama. Overflow is the first photobook in which his installation work comes alive in entirety and detail since its unveiling in 1974.

Takuma Nakahira’s series ‘Overflow’ was originally presented as an installation during the 1974 exhibition ’Fifteen Photographers Today’ (National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo). The work consisted of 48 color photographs that were arranged on a wall 6 meters wide and 1.6 meters high. The photobook Overflow is the first chance to view Nakahira’s astonishing series outside the context of an exhibition.
The photographs show elements of a city — eery rifts in a space overflowing with objects, commodities and information — that Nakahira encountered and captured in his everyday life, from ivy creeping across walls and manhole covers in the streets to the tire of a large truck, from a pale-bellied shark floating in the transparent darkness behind the glass of an aquarium to close-up shots of a subway station.
The photobook’s layout strictly mimics each photo’s position in the installation piece in order to replicate the series’ original experience within the confines of a book.

Thomas Ruff Special Edition Catalog is the first collection world-wide to feature each of the 18 series in Ruff’s extensive portfolio.
One of the special points about this collection is the use of different paper grades for the five included books. Previous publications by Thomas Ruff have been printed on paper that best fit the concept of the respective series. To honor the original intentions of each work, a total of six carefully selected paper grades were used in the production of this collection.
The layout as well differs from usual publications and makes use of a pagination that best suits each individual series.
