অনেকেই স্টেটমেন্ট অফ পারপাস (SOP / এসওপি) এর সেম্পল চায়! তাই আজকে একটি সেম্পল দিয়ে দিচ্ছি। তবে প্রথমেই বলে নেই, এই এসওপির কোন ইউনিক স্ট্রাকচার আমি দেখিনি।
এটা বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের উপড় নির্ভর করে চেঞ্জ হতে পারে। আর বেশীরভাগ ইউনিভার্সিটি সাধারনত ৫০০ থেকে ১০০০ শব্দ পর্যন্ত এসওপি চায়। আর এই সেম্পল এসওপিকে আমি চেষ্টা করবো খুব সহজ ও কনসাইজ রাখার জন্য এবং এখানে আমি মাত্র ৫ টি ব্যাপারকে হাইলাইট করবো। আসুন শুরু করি!
1. Self Introduction
নিজের সংক্ষিপ্ত পরিচয় দিয়ে আমরা এসওপি লেখা শুরু করবো। খুব সংক্ষেপে একাডেমিক ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড দিবেন। একাডেমিক ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডে আপনার পঠিত যে সকল কোর্স থেকে আপনি বিদেশে হাইয়ার স্টাডি বা এই সাবজেক্টে পড়ার জন্য মোটিভেটেড হয়েছেন সেরকম কিছু কোর্স অবশ্যই উল্লেখ করবেন।
I'm Billal Hossain, a Bangladeshi student. Growing up in Bangladesh, a country facing both rapid economic growth and significant environmental challenges. I completed my BBA and MBA (Major in Finance) at the University of Chittagong, where courses such as International Business, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, and Public Policy Analysis shaped my interest in global economic systems and policy dynamics.
These studies helped me understand the dilemma many developing countries face between maintaining economic growth and addressing environmental degradation. This experience motivated me to focus on green innovation and explore how international collaboration, policy coordination, and technological exchange can support sustainable development in emerging economies.

2. Research Interest and Experience:
আপনার রিসার্চ ইন্টারেস্ট, শর্ট ও লং টার্ম গোল। আগের কোন রিসার্চ থাকলে তার অভিজ্ঞতা তুলে ধরবেন। পাবলিকেশন থাকলে তা মেনশন করুন, কনফারেন্সে এটেন্ড করলে তা জানান, এর কিছুই না থাকলেও ঘাবড়ানোর কিছুই নেই। নিজের অনার্স বা মাস্টার্সের থিসিস পেপার উল্লেখ করুন।
My research interest lies at the intersection of international relations, environmental policy, and technological innovation. I focus on how international collaboration influences the implementation of green innovation in developing countries. Although international partnerships are often considered important for promoting sustainable technologies, many initiatives fail to achieve their intended outcomes.
My research seeks to understand why some collaborations succeed while others do not. Specifically, I examine two key factors: the compatibility of policy goals between partner countries and the diversity of financial investments involved in collaborative projects.
I have published two papers on green innovation and technology transfer, which explore how international cooperation can address environmental challenges in traditional industrial systems. In addition, my experience as a Research Assistant at the X Research Center has strengthened my interest in the political and institutional dimensions of environmental cooperation. My long term goal is to contribute to academic research and policy discussions on international environmental cooperation and sustainable development.

3. Professional Experience:
যদি ঐ রিসার্চ সেক্টরে জবের বা কাজের অভিজ্ঞতা থাকে, তা কিছুটা বিশদ ভাবে বলুন। জব রেসপন্সিবিলিটিগুলোকে সুন্দর ভাবে হাইলাইট করবেন। যদি জবের অভিজ্ঞতা থাকে কিন্তু আপানর রিসার্চ এর সাথে মোটেই রিলেটেড না, তা হলেও জব করেছেন, কত দিন করেছেন তা নিয়ে অল্প বলুন।
Before pursuing an academic career, I gained professional experience in the banking sector in Bangladesh. Through my work, I observed how financial systems support investment, innovation, and economic activities. Although my work was not directly related to environmental policy or international relations, it helped me understand the importance of financial infrastructure and regulatory frameworks in enabling sustainable development.
This experience motivated me to shift my focus toward academic research to better understand how governments, financial institutions, and international partners can collaborate to support sustainable development. It also helped me develop valuable skills in communication, analytical thinking, and organizational management.
এখানে ১০৫ শব্দে আমার জবের ব্যাপারটা তুলে ধরেছি। একটা জিনিস দেখুন আমি কোন মিথ্যা বা পোলিশিং করে বলিনি আমার জব, আমারা রিসার্চ টপিকের সাথে রিলেটেড। আমি বলেই দিয়েছি এটা ডাইরেক্টলি রিলেটেড না।
4. Why This Program & Why You (VVI):
কেন এই সাবজেক্ট বা এই পোগ্রামে এডমিশন চাচ্ছেন এবং কেন আপনাকে এই প্রফেসর বা এই ডিপার্টমেন্ট তার ছাত্র হিসেবে নিবে, এটা বেশ ভালো করে বুঝিয়ে বলতে হবে। সহজ কথায় এটা এসওপির প্রান। এখানে পার্সোনাল মোটিভেশনটাকে হাইলাইট করবেন, নিজের স্ট্রং সাইটগুলো তুলে ধরবেন।
এরপর একটু বিপরীত কাজ করবেন, খুব বুদ্ধি করে নিজের একটা বা দুইটা ছোট্ট সমস্যা বা লিমিটেশনের কথা বলবেন। আপনি এই সমস্যা দূর করার জন্যই হাইয়ার স্টাডি করতে চান তা বলবেন। এরপর বলবেন, কেনো এই প্রফেসরকে সুপারভাইজার হিসেবে চান।
I am applying to this program because it provides an excellent environment for studying international relations, global governance, and international cooperation. Its interdisciplinary approach will allow me to examine the political and institutional factors that influence sustainable development and environmental policy.
My research focuses on how international collaboration supports the implementation of green innovation in developing countries. Although many international initiatives promote sustainable technologies, differences in policy priorities, institutional capacity, and financial commitments often create significant implementation challenges. My goal is to identify the conditions under which such collaborations succeed.
At the same time, I recognize that there are areas in which I hope to improve through advanced academic training. While I have developed a strong conceptual foundation in international cooperation and sustainability, I would like to further strengthen my methodological skills, particularly in empirical research and comparative analysis. Participating in this program will allow me to deepen these skills and conduct more rigorous academic research.
I am particularly interested in working under the supervision of Professor Robert. His research on international politics, global governance, and transnational networks closely aligns with my research interests. Under his guidance, I hope to further strengthen my theoretical and methodological skills while contributing to research on international cooperation and sustainable development.

যা বলার জন্য এই ডকুমেন্ট তা বলা শেষ। এখন শেষ করবো, তাই আপনার মেইন বিষয়, শক্তির দিকগুলোকে আরেকবার হাইলাইট করুন। আপনার স্টাডির মাধ্যমে দেশ ও এক্সিস্টিং লিটারেচার কিভাবে বেনেফিটেড হবে তা তুলে ধরুন।
In conclusion, my academic journey has been driven by a strong interest in understanding how international cooperation can support sustainable technological transformation in developing countries. My background in business administration and my research on green innovation have shaped my commitment to studying the political and institutional dimensions of sustainable development.
My research focuses on why some bilateral collaborations for green innovation succeed while others fail, particularly examining factors such as policy alignment, institutional capacity, and financial arrangements. Through this research, I hope to contribute to academic scholarship and provide insights for policymakers seeking effective strategies to promote sustainable development, especially in countries like Bangladesh that face environmental challenges while pursuing economic growth.
এখানে ৯০ শব্দ। তাহলে পুরো এসওপিটা হলো (১০৪+১৫৬+ ১০৫+১৯৩+৯০) মোট ৬৪৮ শব্দের! তবে আরো অল্প কিছু বিষয় খেয়াল রাখতে হবে...
১। এটা রিসার্চ প্রপোজাল না। তাই এখানে রিসার্চ পাজল, গ্যাপ, থিউরিটিক্যাল ফ্রেম ওয়ার্ক কিছুই আসবে না।
২। এখানে ফান্ডিং বা টাকা পয়সার কথা বলা যাবে না।
৩। অনেক এসওপি দেখেছি, রিভিউ করেছি যেখানে স্টুডেন্ট কেনো এই দেশ, এই ইউনিভার্সিটি বলতে গিয়ে নিজের দেশের খারাপ দিকগুলো তুলে ধরে। ভুলেও এই কাজ করা যাবে না। যদি কথা প্রসঙ্গে কিছু আসে পজিটিভলি নিজের দেশ নিয়ে বলবেন।
৪। ঐ ইউনিভার্সিটি, ঐ দেশ নিয়ে আপনার যা ভালো লাগা, ফ্যাসিনিশন তা সরাসরি ২/৩ বাক্যে বলেন। কোনভাবেই অতিরিক্ত কিছু বলবেন না যেনো প্রফেসরের মনে হয় আপনি বাটারিং করছেন। সহজ ভাষায় আমরা যাকে তেল মারা বলি।
৫। SOP এর নির্দিষ্ট কোন সাইজ নেই। তবে স্ট্যান্ডার্ড হলো ১২ ফন্টে ২ থেকে ৩ পেজ। শব্দে হয়তবা সর্বোচ্চ ১০০০! আর যদি প্রফেসর বা ইউনিভার্সিটি শব্দসীমা বলে দেয় তাহলে তার থেকে ১ শব্দও বেশী লিখবেন না।
৬। লেখার ভাষা মার্জিত ও সহজ সরল হতে হবে। নিজেকে ওভারস্মার্ট বুঝানোর জন্য কঠিন সিনোনিম ইউজ করবেন না, এটা ভালো কিছু করে না।
সবাই ভালো থাকুন। চেষ্টা করে যান, দেবার মালিক সৃষ্টিকর্তা।
