We are having a Jam Session and BBQ Party at the Human Arts Studio on Saturday September 27th from 2 PM to 8 PM. Bring your instrument, your voice your dancing shoes or just your love of music! Everyone is welcome to Jam or just enjoy the music, the BBQ and the company. Please bring something to drink and something to cook on the BBQ.

Kazufumi Mitsuhashi
Graduated from the Department of Japanese Literature at Sophia University.
Currently teaches Japanese at a cram school.
Began writing novels in 2020 at the age of 20.
His love for radio led him to start Human Arts Radio with Reon Joesan.
He and Leon have been childhood friends.

Leon Joesan
Founded Human Arts Studio together with his father, Jeffrey.
While studying recording and editing, he produces and distributes Human Arts Radio.
Having started table tennis in the first grade, he became a junior representative at the National Sports Festival, and now works as a coach.
He has also begun creating zines, with his first work 「about blank」 now available.
He and Kazufumi Mitsuhashi have been childhood friends.

Human Arts Studio is hosting its first “Wine Talk” live session, featuring translator Jinny Takemori as our special guest! 🍷✨

Ginny Tapley Takemori has translated fiction by over a dozen early modern and contemporary Japanese authors. Her translation of Sayaka Murata’s bestselling Convenience Store Woman was awarded the 2020-2021 Lindsley and Masao Miyoshi Prize. Her most recent translations include Mayumi Inaba’s Mornings Without Mii, Sayaka Murata’s Vanishing World, and Akiyuki Nosaka’s The Grave of the Fireflies, forthcoming from Penguin Classics in September. She lives in Tsukuba with her husband and more cats than she bargained for.

竹森ジニー：イギリス出身、これまでに10人以上の近現代日本の作家の小説の翻訳を手がける。彼女が翻訳した村田沙耶香著『コンビニ人間』は、2020-2021リンズリー&マサオ・ミヨシ賞を受賞。最近の翻訳作品は、稲葉真弓の『ミーのいない朝』、村田沙耶香の『消滅世界』、そして野坂昭如の『火垂るの墓』（ペンギン・クラシックから9月に刊行予定）など。ジニーさんは夫と、想像以上にたくさんの猫と共につくばに住んでます！

My friend Ginny Tapley Takemori will be joining me to talk about her amazing work translating award winning Japanese literature into English and getting deep into the art of translation and also drink a little wine. Hope to see you online or in person August 16th at 6 PM Japan time.
