This tune's like a direct divebomb into a 70's television network special. I'd been listening to Steely Dan's "Glamour Profession" on repeat, and Scott Atkinson would have to tell you about the lyrics I'm singing. I did that singing in my car and the acoustics are a bit claustrophobic. Again, dummin' Dan Heisel is the pinch hitter here. I told him my wrists hurt whenever I pay close attention to his drum track. I certainly can't keep that time on a high hat.

Scott Atkinson wrote the lyrics based on Jean-Michel Basquiat and some graffiti he was into. I sang the tune on a curb outside a hospital after getting surgery in me gulliver - half-numb and not sure what kind of voice would come out. You'll hear me pull back in the second chorus - not as an actual inflection, but because a high school couple strolled past me at that point. The tune became more and more plastic soul as it evolved - Dan Heisel's drumming sealed the deal.
