They have a belief, or rather an implanted understanding, given to them by the one or the forces they serve. First, that they can live forever by feeding off the energy of others. That they can restore themselves at the expense of others. That they can have elite reincarnations. Because of this, they don’t see the point in caring about the condition of their Avatar.
It’s extremely rare to find people in such orders or covens who constantly exercise, eat healthily, perform special physical exercises, and practice spiritual techniques directly connected to their physical Avatar. Honestly, I haven’t seen such people myself. I understand they might exist, but based on the statistics and the amount of individuals I’ve observed in these contexts, I suspect there are very few of them. And what’s the point, really? Why bother, if they’re convinced they can live long, powerful lives by feeding off others?
This isn’t their own idea — it’s something implanted into them. It’s what drives them to do what they do.
From the outside, it may seem like these people know exactly what they’re doing. They may have powerful rituals that actually work — dismembering the human soul, dismantling the shining core, stealing positive qualities, abilities, the power to earn — they can do all of that through rituals. But it works like a flash. One person gets drained of their energy and abilities, which are consumed by the structure, and then after a while, the ritual has to be repeated again. And with every new person, the internal state of those participating gets worse and worse, because this transforms them too.
Just as we transform through a healthy, spiritual path and self-development, they undergo transformation through their actions against other people. When it gets to the point of draining someone’s energy to the extent of disconnecting them from their Avatar — that’s serious. And it requires a price. Eventually, the person participating in such practices ceases to be human.
