奈良文化財研究所学報第106冊『石神遺跡発掘調査報告Ⅰ－石造物出土地の調査－』を公開しました。

本書は明治35・36年（1902・1903年）に須弥山石・石人像が出土した地点を含む、石神遺跡第１～４次調査（1981～1984年）の発掘調査報告です。石造物出土地では昭和11年（1936年）に石田茂作氏が発掘調査をおこない、奈文研もこの地点で第１次調査を実施しています。本書では石造物出土時から石田氏の調査を経て、奈文研の調査にいたるまでの経緯も併せて整理しています。

2025 Active Duty Fund Drive Recognition Recap 👏

On June 30th, recognized the 2025 Key Representatives and Commands of Okinawa for their outstanding support of this year's Active Duty Fund Drive.

From March 1st - May 23rd, Marines & Sailors designated as the Key Person for their command worked to achieve 100% meaningful contact and helped generate over $64K in n pledges, exceeding the combined totals of the 2023 and 2024 Okinawa Fund Drives. 🤯

These reps truly embodied the campaign theme of "by our own for our own" through their dedication and commitment to the NMCRS mission of providing financial stability and well-being to Sailors, Marines, and their families. 💛

Summer sailing camp is ON!

Following Coach Abby’s opening remarks at Day 1 of Session 1, these Harbor Mice sailors were all smiles, full of excitement to get on the water. These kiddos (and many more) will be learning sailing skills, water safety and teamwork this Summer, we can't wait to see them tacking and jibing their way around Belvedere Cove!

A deadly fungus may hold the key to an anti-cancer drug.

Researchers at Penn Engineering have transformed the toxic Aspergillus flavus into a compound that fights cancer. By isolating and modifying a new class of molecules, they’ve created a promising cancer-killing compound that rivals FDA-approved drugs and opens up new frontiers in the discovery of more fungal medicines.

“Fungi gave us penicillin,” Sherry Gao says. “These results show that many more medicines derived from natural products remain to be found.”
