NET-AT-NITE

NET-AT-NITE Boadcasting the finest cult animations from an undisclosed location in the vicinity of Yokosuka. And we're pretty passionate about animation, nighthawks.

There's always been one essential component in the way we consume entertainment, and that is curation. We look to curation in our films, our music, and our television, acting as a sort of cultural gatekeeper to oversee a library too large to sift through alone. That's where NET-AT-NITE comes in: an exclusive, uniquely-styled block of programming, designed to bring an awareness and a respectability

to an art-form somewhat overlooked by Western audiences. We aim to showcase cult classics from around the globe to a mainstream audience, with their cultural identities intact. It's not just about the programs: it's about the curation, the connective tissue, the aesthetic, and respectful treatment of the broadcast. The feeling that someone is introducing you to something they have a great deal of passion for.

David Lynch recalls a day in 1981, when he says he "rescued" five Woody Woodpecker toys that he saw hanging outside of a petrol station on the Sunset Strip: "I screech on the breaks, I do a U-turn, go back and buy them and I save their lives," he says seriously. "I named them Chucko, Buster, Pete, Bob, and Dan, and they were my boys and they were in my office. They were my dear friends for a while, but certain traits started coming out and they became not so nice."

Looking straight ahead, he says with a grim finality, "They are not in my life anymore."

This particular trailer preceeded his 1977 film "Eraserhead" at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles for the several years it played there to sold-out Friday midnight movie audiences.

Produced by twins Douglas Brian Martin & Steven M. Martin, with cinematography by Fredrick Elmes.

Le Dernier Cri is a French artists’ publishing house that generates beautiful, intense, often disturbing limited-edition books, prints, and animations. Founded in 1993 by Pakito Bolino and Caroline Sury, the LDC draws upon underground comics and “art brut” (outsider) artists, and emerged out of the Paris punk scene of the 80’s and 90’s. The collective continues to be an international network between artists, retaining the spirit of revolt, extravagance and liberty which inspired its creation.
