The sufuria may be funny but what millions of African families have to burn underneath their cooking pots is not.
In 2020, only one in five people in Africa had access to clean cooking fuels. For many families, smoke from wood, charcoal and other solid fuels becomes part of the air they breathe every day.
Clean air shouldn’t be a luxury. Dirty air is already costing us our health, our lives and far more money.
The solutions exist. What’s missing is speed, financing, coordination and political will.
