Harbour View Maritime Training Institute Opens Mombasa Campus
Harbour View Maritime Training Institute has officially launched its Mombasa Campus at Harbour House along Moi Avenue, opposite Jubilee House. The launch coincided with the celebration of the institute’s first anniversary since the opening of its Mtwapa branch.
In its first year, Harbour View has positioned itself as one of the leading maritime training institutions along the East African coast. The institute prides itself on modern training equipment, industry-experienced faculty, and a commitment to international standards in maritime education.
The new campus will offer a wide range of courses, including STCW and ancillary training such as:
Basic Safety Training
STCW Revalidation
Coxswain Level 3
Seafarers’ Designated Security Duties
Ship Security Officer (SSO)
Company Security Officer (CSO)
Passenger Safety and Cargo Handling
In addition, the institute is introducing advanced courses such as:
Engine Room Resource Management (ERM)
Bridge Resource Management
GMDSS General Operator (GO)
Leadership and Management Skills
Able Seafarer Engine
Radar Navigation and Management Level
Speaking during the launch, Captain Peter Munga, head of training at Harbour View, emphasized that the institution is committed to providing world-class training at affordable fees, combining theory with practical exposure to prepare students for the global maritime industry.
Guest speaker Hon. Hamisi Mwaguya praised the institute’s focus on quality training and urged other stakeholders to support its mission. He encouraged leaders and young people interested in maritime careers to enroll, noting that the sector holds vast opportunities for youth along the coast.
With the Mombasa Campus now open, Harbour View Maritime Training Institute is looking to strengthen its legacy of maritime excellence while expanding opportunities for seafarers and professionals across the region.
