DIANA CHELELE BINTI OSAMA
Diana Chemutai aka Chelele Binti Osama was the finest Kalenjin Songbird. Her sweet voice and best lines were on another level.Born at Mugango Bomet County and daughter of Kap bargesaek clan of the Kipsigis, she's known beyond all Kalenjin Counties and even widely the country.
She started venturing into music around 2005,she released her first song 'Ng'olochin boyondeng'ung' komie' .That was using the old system of guitars, the song also trended. She later did the most important step, she introduced keyboard beats to Kalenjin land for secular music which was common for 'South Africa local' secular music. She released first song 'Meus kwondo' which made her the most loved artist and known everywhere in Kalenjin and beyond. This became routine, all kalenjin secular musician upto now followed her path, keyboard beats is majorly used now.
She was married to Eric Musila who is a kamba and professionally cop. They were blessed with beautiful twins who are set to do their KCPE Exams this year. All the best to them.
She was very hardworking and her music yielded sweet fruits. She lived a classy and sassy lifestyle. She bought a parcel at Kapkwen, and built a mansion.
She was brutally murdered in January 2016 night at her residence in Kapkwen. It's unclear upto date why she was brutally murdered, her husband who was the main suspect was nearly killed by residents at Kericho town. The rowdy crowd wanted to lynch him,he was given tight security by many police officers and drove him to Bomet Police station. Along the highway, Litein, kapkatet,Kaplong, Kapkwen and Bomet, police had to use tear gas to scare off very angry residents who wanted to block the police vehicle to lynch him.He was later taken to Naivaisha and acquitted judge saying it was shoddy probe and poor evidence.
Thousands of people and fans attended her funeral in Kapkwen. It was most moody funeral,it was pre-mature death for their celebrated musician.Chelele remains a Kalenjin legend in music industry. Her popular hits are 'Meus Kwondo, Elifut Joseph,Birmat koloo,Wrong number, shilingi' and others. Her music was full of wisdom and sweet beats that will never be forgotten over ages. May her soul continue resting in peace.

The power of a parent's tongue

A story is told about a young Thomas Edison who came home one day with a paper for his mother. He told her, “My teacher told me to give this paper only to my mother.”
Thomas’ mother read the note and her eyes filled with tears. Thomas asked his mother what the note said, and she read aloud,

“Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.”
And that’s exactly what Thomas’ mother did; she home-schooled her child with devotion and dedication. As the story goes, many years later after Thomas Edison’s mother passed on, and he was now one of the world’s greatest inventors, he found a folded paper among other family items. He opened the very same paper that had been handed to him to give to his mother and read the following message:

“Your son is mentally ill. We won’t let him come to school anymore.”
At that moment, Edison realised what his mother had done for him so many years ago. He wrote in his diary: “Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century.”

“The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Can you imagine what might have happened to Thomas Edison if his mother had read to him the reckless and hurtful words written by his teacher? He might never have invented the light bulb or made his many other contributions to society.
Thank God for the wisdom and wise words of his mother! She created the context in which her son could grow to his full potential.

Let’s take this message to heart and resolve to use our words for healing today. You might be a parent, what do you say to your children.... You might be a teacher, what do you say to your student... especially the ones that are not really performing well presently..

What do you say about your parents, family, boss, subordinate, leader, colleague, follower.... Just as hurtful words can cause uncontrolled damage for life, so can wise words positively affect a person for life. May the words you use today change a life for the better.

Thanks for reading
