๐…๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐’๐ญ. ๐Œ๐ข๐œ๐ก๐š๐ž๐ฅ, ๐’๐ญ. ๐†๐š๐›๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐ญ. ๐‘๐š๐ฉ๐ก๐š๐ž๐ฅ (๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—)

Today the Catholic Church celebrates the great feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Their names tell us who they are and what they do.

1) ๐Œ๐ข๐œ๐ก๐š๐ž๐ฅ means โ€œ๐™’๐™๐™ค ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ก๐™ž๐™ ๐™š ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™?โ€ He is the great defender of heaven, the protector of the Church. When we feel the weight of spiritual battles in our lives, Michael reminds us that victory belongs not to the devil, nor to human strength, but to God alone.

2) ๐†๐š๐›๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ means โ€œ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™ ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ข๐™ฎ ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™š๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ฉ๐™.โ€ He is the messenger of the greatest news in history that the Son of God would be born of Mary. Gabriel reminds us that Godโ€™s Word always brings life, joy, and hope. In a world filled with so many empty words, Gabriel calls us to be faithful messengers of the Gospel.

3) ๐‘๐š๐ฉ๐ก๐š๐ž๐ฅ means โ€œ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™ ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™ก๐™จ.โ€ He guided young Tobias on his journey and restored sight to Tobitโ€™s eyes. Raphael reminds us that God walks with us, healing our wounds and guiding our steps. In every sickness, in every uncertainty, God sends His healing presence.

The Archangels remind us that we are not alone. We are surrounded by Godโ€™s messengers, His heavenly army. The Catechism tells us:โ€œ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐’˜๐’‰๐’๐’๐’† ๐’๐’Š๐’‡๐’† ๐’๐’‡ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ช๐’‰๐’–๐’“๐’„๐’‰ ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’๐’†๐’‡๐’Š๐’•๐’” ๐’‡๐’“๐’๐’Ž ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’Ž๐’š๐’”๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’๐’–๐’” ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐’‘๐’๐’˜๐’†๐’“๐’‡๐’–๐’ ๐’‰๐’†๐’๐’‘ ๐’๐’‡ ๐’‚๐’๐’ˆ๐’†๐’๐’”โ€ (CCC 334).

๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐˜‚๐˜€ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ:

St. Michael, defend us in our battles.
St. Gabriel, strengthen us with Godโ€™s Word.
St. Raphael, heal us and guide us on our journey.

And may we, too, become defenders, messengers, and healers in the world, reflecting the mission of the Archangels in our own lives.

A Tearful Farewell to Sr. Mary Lucy Mangโ€™eni.

Today, the Catholic community across the Diocese of Bungoma gathered in faith and sorrow at Mundika Catholic Church to celebrate the life and vocation of Sr. Mary Lucy Mangโ€™eni of the Benedictine Sisters of Grace and Compassion.

Though called to eternal rest at a tender age, Sr. Mary Lucyโ€™s departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family, especially her brother Rev. Fr. Kizito Mangโ€™eni, the Benedictine Sisters across East Africa, and the wider Catholic faithful who had come to know her as a gentle soul devoted to prayer and service.

The Holy Mass, presided over by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Mark Kadima, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma, was both solemn and uplifting.

In his homily, he reminded us that Sr. Mary Lucyโ€™s life and sudden passing call each of us to reflect on our own journey of faith and readiness to meet the Lord.

Among the mourners were clergy, religious sisters, family, parishioners, and dignitaries, including Busia County Governor Hon. Otuoma, who joined in paying their final respects.

As tears flowed and prayers were lifted, one truth remained clear,
Sr. Mary Lucyโ€™s short life was a beacon of dedication to God, and her memory will forever inspire those she touched.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace.
