I keenly followed the Linda Mwananchi rallies in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties. One thing stood out and not in a good way. It was disappointing to see influential women leaders from our regions sidelined and denied the chance to address their own people, while invited personalities from outside the region enjoyed generous speaking time.

In politics, the microphone is more than a tool, it is a symbol of recognition and influence. Denying local women leaders that platform sends the wrong political message and risks alienating a region that has consistently produced capable and respected leaders.

If any political movement seeks to earn the trust of their region, it must first respect its leaders.

By the way Western Kenya should never be treated as a venue where outsiders are celebrated while local voices are silenced.
