What Samians need as a priority:

1. Clean and Reliable Water Supply

Many parts of Funyula still struggle with access to safe drinking water, forcing some residents to rely on untreated water from some unreliable sources which expose them to water-borne diseases.

2. Improved Road Infrastructure

Poor and impassable roads, especially during rainy seasons, make it difficult for residents to access markets, schools, and health facilities, slowing economic activity and development.

3. Youth Employment and Economic Opportunities

High poverty levels and limited economic activities mean many young people lack stable jobs. Supporting agriculture, small businesses, and local industries could create employment and reduce poverty.

4. Better Healthcare Services

Most health facilities in Funyula constituency are often underfunded and understaffed, making it difficult for residents to access quality medical care. Improving hospitals, staffing, and medical supplies is a key need.

5. Education Support and Skills Training

Education standards and resources remain a challenge in the region. Expanding bursaries, improving school infrastructure, and providing vocational training can help young people gain skills for employment.

It's a planting Season in Samia, Busia County
As the rains begin to fall across Funyula constituency, this is the time for our farmers to return to the land and plant for a better tomorrow.

Agriculture remains the backbone of our community, and by planting maize, beans, vegetables, and other crops, we can strengthen food security and improve household incomes.

Let us also embrace tree planting to protect our environment, conserve water sources, and secure our future generations. Together, with hard work and unity, Samia can achieve abundant harvests and a stronger local economy. The season to plant is the season to build our prosperity.

In Funyula Constituency, there's need to focus on three urgent priorities:
First, improving road and water infrastructure to open up markets, reduce flooding impacts, and ease access to health and schools and markets.

Second, empowering farmers and fishermen through modern inputs, storage facilities, and fair market linkages to boost household incomes along the Lake Victoria belt; and

Creating real opportunities for youth and women through skills training, enterprise funding, and local job creation so that development is felt at the household level and dignity of work is restored for every family.

Facts about NG-CDF

NG-CDF (National Government Constituencies Development Fund) is a public fund established by the Government of Kenya to support grassroots development at the constituency level.

Origin
Introduced in 2003 as the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Anchored in law and later restructured under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Act.

Created to decentralize national resources and allow communities to directly identify and prioritize their development needs through their elected Members of Parliament.

Purpose and Benefits
-Funds local development projects such as schools, classrooms, bursaries, water projects, health facilities, roads, and security infrastructure.
-Enhances equitable distribution of national resources, especially to marginalized and rural areas.
-Promotes community participation in development planning and oversight.
-Supports education access through bursaries for needy students.
-Improves service delivery and accountability by bringing development closer to the people.
