KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
Did you know that your phone is not police property; and you've always handed it over freely.
No warrant. No court order. No written complaint. Just fear and uniform 🤔. What you don't know limits you. The truth many people don’t know is this,
the police are not allowed to search your phone at will.
Your phone contains your private life, messages, pictures, bank alerts, emails and or conversations.
By this 👆i mean, it is protected by law; the moment an officer says, “Bring your phone,” most of us forget their rights.
Politeness is good; yes co-operation is wise. But surrendering your rights out of fear is very dangerous.
If the police want to search your phone,
there must be lawful authority. Not intimïdation. Not shouting. Not threats. Gone are the days. Most police abuses survive on ignorance, not the law. Know your rights as a Kenyan Citizen. It can save you money, dignity, and freedom. The man is a river, the woman a lake.
